Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review

So, I went to the cigar store two days ago, and I got a little carried away, having spent probably an hour at work reading the cigar forum and looking at sampler deals on various sites. The woman there was really excited about cigars, and the energy must have transferred over to me, because somehow managed to walk out with 6 cigars, and I don't have a humidor to store them in, and have 2 more at home already (better get smokin! ). I have a feeling my cousin is getting me a humidor for x-mas, so I'm holding off on buying one till I find out. Until then, I'm keeping them in those cigar store bags within a larger freezer bag, and I occasionally breath into the bigger bag to "fog it up" a bit. Probably not the best way to do it, but better than nothing.

This was my haul, if I can find my camera when I get home I'll post pictures of the remaining bunch:

-Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild
-La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero (Chisel sized? looks to be that's what they call it)
-Arturo Fuente 8-5-8
-Nubs: 1 regular cameroon, 1 box pressed cameroon torpedo
-Ashton VSG in a thinner but long size

Anyway, I had the Camacho on my front porch right when I got home (could not wait till after dinner), and man was it tasty. It's the one with the black label w/gold piping. First off, as I remarked to the woman in the store, the wrapper is just gorgeous (nice oily sheen, looked soft and smooth). Second off, it's very tasty. Great full flavor, nice balanced nutty/woody/sweet flavor, not too harsh for its body. My only complaint is that the draw was too loose.

Either way, I would definitely get more of these.

You made a very nice selection of smokes. The Camacho Coyolar's have a unique flavor. The rest of the line is also very good. The Corojo and Triple maduro's are among my favorites. Smoke that LFD on a full stomach.

The coyolar puro is a nice on-your-face-raw tobacco kind of smoke. One of my favorites. Nice selection you got!

The Coyolar is the only thing that's kicked my ass so far. Smoked that in my B&M and was a bit unsteady when I went to leave. Not queasy, but definitely more than a little dizzy. Fresh air sure did help.

And a sad sad thing has happened at some point since I got this home, or maybe when it was in my pocket after I bought it:

That wrapper can be repaired. Don't toss it away, it's a very nice smoke!

Yeah - great cigars, those. How can I repair it? Just try and glue it over with spit or something?

Nice selection, and yes you do have a LFD Chisel there.... you can tell from the unique chisel-like profile. I only know the Double Ligeros by reputation, but I hope you like strength!

Either real cigar repair glue ($5-10 at a B&M up here if it carries it), or, apparently, pectin. Yes, that stuff in the canning section of the supermarket.

Pectin is great for repairing sticks, I use it all the time. I use Certo brand liquid stuff and just keep the bag sealed.

re: Camacho Coyolar Puro Rothschild Review

I have alot of wrappers split or come unraveled, due to the sub-20% RH here, and I have used pectin to successfully repair most of them. I got the powdered kind and dissolved it in some hot water to make a glue consistency, put it in a small jar and keep it in the fridge. Pre-mixed would be more convenient, for sure.

The LFD Double Ligero is the peppery-est cigar I have ever smoked. I still have one left. I'll spark it up some time when I'm feeling frisky.

The Nubs always make me think of a cigar that someone has already smoked. "King of the Road", like.
