Montesino Maddy Review ... O'le Faithfull!!!

My first impulse tonight was to go after one of those beautiful little rascals Alphuez55 bombed me with today... ESPECIALLY that Dark Knight!!!

But sensibility got the best of me (for a change)... Alp's gifts went into a marked box in the coolerdor (after marking the cellos in his name), and are enjoying a well-deserved rest from the trip between MA and MI.

AND SO... I find myself with a Montesino DC... I loved the Dipimatico to death, so I figured, "Bigger is Better."

Right???

Right!!!

CONSTRUCTION & TRIM:
Kind of rough around the edges, as most maduros seem to be. Trim on the cap is easy enough (read that: I screw up on the trim often, but this one forgives me!).

BURN:
Smooth and slow... No corrections at this point (halfway)... I keep wondering, "How can they make a cigar burn so nicely!?" On the other hand, and with other smokes, I wondered, "How can they make a cigar burn so bady!?"

BODY:
If you're looking for a heavyweight, pass it up! If you're looking for a light-medium maduro, think about it!

SENSORY IMPRESSIONS:
Montesino makes it "easy" to enjoy your cigar. Burn is good, allowing me to enjoy a nice nutty-chocolaty flavor without screwing around with a lighter! (I HATE that crap!).

Is it an "enlightening" cigar experience?

NOPE!!!

Is it a "satisfying" cigar experience?

Yep, yep, and tripple-yep!

OVERALL:
For those new to cigars, I would recommend trying a Montesino (as I would recommend other brands, as well)!

This brand offers the richness of a maduro wrap without a harsh filler.

(As usual, my reviews are purely and entirely subjective!)

Nicely done Palm55. I haven't smoked a Montesino in a long while. Your review makes me remember that there are different experiences that we seek out of a smoke. For the enlightened experience, say after the birth of a child or when celebrating something else, we want an epic, a monument, a treasure. However, there are many times when we want something less sublime. Maybe it's the drive to work, or during a lunch break or just before dinner. There's cigar for every occasion.

Good job.

A M'ontesino maduro is not a bad cigar. This same cigar blooming will be, in fact, sublime. My local had few that had been laying low for a while and they were excellent.

Good review Palm. I haven't had a Montesino in a very long time, but they were one of the first maddies I tried, and it actually hooked me on mellow maduro's. Good call!
