Edge Missile Maduro by RP Review

Well, went to my local B&M like I do every week or so and saw some of these between some RP 90s and RP92s. Since the RP92 is a staple in my tupperdor, I picked up 3 and went on my merry way. After getting home and having some dinner, I decided to light it up.

Construction
Dark, oily, solid. Looked very nice. I was kinda curious why it was so solid, it hardly have any spring to it at all. I was afraid the draw would be too tight. I snipped off maybe halfway down the head to give me a smaller openning. Draw was pleasant, not tight at all. Tasted nice, and strong. Unfortunately, I wanted a more mild-medium that night, but figured I'd try it anyway.

The Light
Perfect. A few puffs after toasting and it was good to go. I barely needed to blow on the end to even it out. Burned even, and the ash was a nice stiff grey that held on. Plenty of smoke.

Flavor
Strong and full. Coffee with spice. After 1/2 inch it had a slightly lingering bitter finish that wasn't bad (unlike a bad padron 3000 i had). smooth and relaxing.

Finish
Unfortunately, it was a bit too strong for me and i was feeling woosy after only 2". I let it die but I'd come back another time.

Overall, I'd say a good cigar. I'll have to try another when I'm in the mood for something so strong but i'd definitely come back again. I can see those 2 left will be had not too far into the future. Definitely a should-try for those into full-bodied cigars.

Great review. It is a strong cigar. The first time I had one was with a glass of port, and it was not a good match. I think I should have had some brandy or a stout with it. It just completely overpowere the Port.

All in all, I think I enjoy the Edge series a little more with the Corojo Wrapper. I like Maduros to bring out flavors in a mild to mid flavored cigar. THey do not always work as well for me with a full flaored cigar.

Great review! Firm dark and oily with a firm but not tight draw.

I picked up a box of these at a recent RP tasting event at my local B&M. You are correct that these are a strong cigar which is exactly why I like these small Missles over the full size Edge Maduros. Just about the time these begin to exert their power over me they are gone.

Have you had the Edge Torpedo Maduro? If you have, how does the Missile compare? I am in love with the Torpedo, but have not been able to find them at my B&M or Cbid. Cbid does have several listings for the Missiles though.

I like them as well. Stong as ya said. You have to be in the mood for one.

Great review.

Re: Edge Missile Maduro by RP

I personally think that the maduro is a little flat on flavor and tend to go with the corojo on the missles,

but my absolute favorite is the edge lite. Such a good, strong flavor for a medium bodied cigar.
