All right boys and girls. I have an idea. My distributor just ordered the line. How many of you want 5ver or boxes? let me know and I will have Sawson get them for me. I need to know sizes and amounts. Un fortunately, due to the retail agreement, I doubt I will be able to get a discount. So they will be MSRP. I won't raise price. I believe the costs are. from $4.85 (Torito) to $6.40 (Belicoso)a stick.

Let me know...

Re: Casa Magna Robusto

I was down in southern Florida on vacation a few weeks ago and happened to spot the Casa Magna in the local smoke shop. Picked up 2 for me and my Dad at $5.25 and really enjoyed them. The review here in the thread is right on! I would put this cigar in my top 10 or even 5 because of the price. I'm gonna order up a box and enjoy.

IMO there is no #1 cigar when there are so many great ones.

However, I do find it difficult to believe that they picked this cigar above all others for the top of the year based off of their scoring. Something's fishy and its not this forum. I was in utter amazement to see that they didn't include Tat Blacks, Oliva V Maduro, and the RP Decade was so far down the list.

I think it was a nod (acknowledgement) to all CA readers that times are hard, and they wanted to prop up a low priced quality cigar. It would be tough though to compare a Magna with the Padron 80 yr. on that same list.

I think there is some misunderstanding of how the #1 cigar is chosen. I take it as, the scores are given blindly, but the rankings are chosen after the fact. A 94 rated cigar that costs $5 can beat a 96 rated cigar that costs $40. Am I wrong?

I believe the number rating is one part, plus the cost, plus availability.

Awesome review. The Casa Magna looks tasty! I was able to get one of these the other day, I have not smoked it yet. I will soon though!

Casa Magna Robusto-Help can't find!

I walked into my local B&M and was excited to see a box of Casa Maga
(coronas, I think). I been dying to try these ever since CA named them 2008 cigar of the year. Normaly, this B&M keeps their humidor @ about 73% r/h. I generally put them in my humidor for a month or more to lower the humidity to a more smokeable level but I was anxious to try one.
My first impression was it was spicey hot, like a DPG. Although I prefer to smoke fatter cigars it was an excellent smoke. Now I'm dying to try the larger sizes like the robusto & the 60 ring guage size but I can't find any for sale locally or on the internet.
Does anyone know where to find any for sale?

It's insane how hard these are to find! I live in Atlanta and we have 3 B&M's close by that carry them - no matter how often I go in they are always sold out.

TexCigars.com will let you pre-order them, but they do mention there are a lot of backorders.

Re: Casa Magna Robusto

My B&M was stocking these long before the reviews came out so had them on hand. I smoked a 60 gauge a few weeks back. My first experience with a "spicy" cigar. Construction was beautiful. I smoked it right out of the stores humidor so it was damper than I prefer, but the thing smoked forever (4 1/2"). I had to relight it several times and was carrying it around with me for a good hour or more both lit and not. I only tried it because I wanted to know what a #1 choice from CA was like. It wasn't something that I would normally buy. But like I said...perfect construction. I bought another yesterday and cut it at the store since I don't have anything to cut that large a ring size. It's in my humidor at the moment unwrapped, and I'm looking forward to giving it another go. I was most impressed by how it smoked...and it tasted pretty decent. I'm open minded when it comes to cigars, unless it's just another stick that taste like all the rest.

Re: Casa Magna Robusto

Good review Andy,,,will get some of these when the "newness" wears off and everyone gets their fill. I have a half dozen JDNA's that have been resting so that will get me thru the Casa Magan craze and I have plenty other smokes to choose from.

good review on an otherwise crappy and overhyped cigar.

First off, what I'm about to say is not meant to be offensive, it's just a casual observation that in a way was just vindicated by this statement. This is so funny to see considering that this cigar has been out since early last summer and had received no recognition until this list-- which to me would mean there's been little to no hype at all. Which makes the ranking even more interesting, considering all the other legitametly considerably overhyped cigars on the list. The hype created by the list goes to all the cigars on the list, at least from the conversations I've had. Even stranger, everyone takes this ranking so personally for some reason, as if they had some personal interest vested into it somehow. *sigh* When will people stop thinking that because a company puts a 'list' together that it's so important? Want to see hype and crappiness? Next time Rolling Stone put's out a Top 500 Albums mag, check that out. Moral of the story: Every one is entitled to their opinion, even CA Tasting Panels.

P.S.
If someone could explain in a logical way why so many people are up in arms about this, that would be a great thread.
