Don Lino Africa Review
size: 6.5x44
wrapper: Nicaragua filler: Cameroon, Dom Republic, Nicaragua price paid: $6.25 Well, it's Friday, so I had my usual lunch in the lounge at Old Havana Cigar Co. I was in the mood for something new and the packaging for this line immediately caught my eye so I picked one up and sat down in the lounge. Construction seemed pretty solid and the pre-light smell was strong but not really spicy. Once lit, the draw was a bit tight for my tastes. I eventually had to snip off a little more to get a nice draw on it. Flavor was very nice, like the smell it was strong and very flavorfull, but not spicy. Overall, a very nice blend of flavors. The cigar burned pretty good, but slightly uneven towards the end. Unfortunately, the flavor got a bit harsh as I was nearing the finish, so I actually ended it a little earlier than I normaly do. In conclusion, it was a nice cigar.. not great but a good experience. I would recommend these to people who like a strong smoke, but not a maduro. |

Thanks for the review Anton. I've seen those, but haven't tried them. It sounds like it is a decent smoke if not too pricey. What did they cost?

Don Lino Africa Duma Robusto (5 x 50)
Wrapper: Nicarauguan Habano (vintage 1999) Binder: Dominican, Nicaraguan, Mexican Filler: "rare African filler leaf" Drink: Paulaner Oktoberfest Amber Marzen Presentation: Gorgeous and large cigar band of gold, brown, orange and yellow. Stylized zebra stripes, the words "Don Lino Africa" and a big stylized "A". Purchased locally at Ray's Tobacco World in Milwaukee. I think I paid ~ $6.50 for this stick. Flavor: Very gentle and mild. Lightly toasted oyster crackers and pretzel sticks. Timidly ventures into soft leathers and weak coffee with sweet cream. Even though there are no big, bold flavors to describe, this cigar still displayed extraordinarly fine smoking. I'd put it almost in the class of the Cuesta Rey Centro Fino Sungrown and La Perla Black Pearl Morado. A very mild yet flavorful smoke. Voluminous clouds of bluish-white smoke enhance the smoking experience and create an illusion of fuller body. I've read reviews on other cigar sites ripping on this cigar and claiming that it is "so strong" and that it "kicks back". Not my sample. I'd have to admit that I was mildly hammered up after watching three NFL football games and "smoking angry" after my disgusting experience with the Hoyo De Monterrey. This smoke soothed my nerves and revived my interest in smoking fine cigars, which, I must admit, was waning a bit after some bad experiences I've had. I don't have $5.00 - $7.00 to waste on cigars that don't smoke well. This one was a beauty. Overall: Perfect draw, perfect burn. Real nice, real good cigar. A solid B.
