Ramon Allones Gigantes Habano Review

Ramon Allones Gigantes

Wrapper: Havana
Binder: Havana
Filler: Havana

Storage:65%RH at 75-80f

Construction: Beautiful construction. Perfect wrapper,

Prelight: The smell of this sweet cigar is divine. Sweet roasted nuts with a hint of a fruity smell. It made me drool with anticipation

Burn: I have heard of good Cubans always havinga perfect burn from toast to nub. This was no exception. About an hour and a half of smoking bliss

Drink: Water

Smoking Notes: This was one complex cigar. Moving from a light creamy, fruity flavor to a spicy cedary deliciousness towards the end. A hint of toasted nuts all through. A nice intro into Cubans for me.

Overall Impression: This was my first cuban and it will not be the last. It was a euphoric experience bursting with flavor. It was a quite a bit stronger than many other cigars that I have had in the past. I would say it is as strong as a O bold from oliva, but with much more finesse and flavor. This is not a cigar to be rushed. I caught myself power puffing and it would get a touch of harshness. Nothing a quick purge couldn't fix though. I definately have to give a HUGE THANKS to HeavyMetal for this opportunity. Thank Man

Glad I could "pop your cherry" . A pretty good description. With some more familiarity you'll pick up on the classic cuban notes - sweet spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cardamom), floral, and earth. The floral notes will be most noticable on the finish as you swirl, exhale and taste. There's always those fragrant floral notes. The earth notes are distinctly different from the dark forrest loam notes of Nic. Cuban is like a fresh plowed field - those who've been on a nothern farm will note the red clay component. A lot of folks call this the "barnyard smell". I think that's mostly by folks who've never been in a barnyard - they stink like pig or cow shit, duh!

RA's are OK, but I think they have a dry and slightly tannic note. Gigantes have the least and that one was from 03 so it was tempered. RASS (Ramon Allones Specially Selected) have it the strongest.

My tastes lean towards Partagas, Hoyo de Monterrey, El Rey del Mundo and Bolivar. If you thought the RAG was strong, try a Boli. They'll blow yer head off. So will RyJ Cazadores.

I have a small Bolivar from Stan, and a Partagas. I still have yet to smoke them though
