Joya de Nicaragua Antaņo 1970 robusto Review
My first review. I'm not very good at picking out individual flavors, but i'll take a stab at it.
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: You guessed it, Nicaraguan Construction: Toothy, dark, oily. Very inviting. Nice and firm. Prelight: Very spicy. A little cedary. Burn: Started off a little uneven. I attribute that to my lack of experience. It evened itself out quickly. Draw: Easy with a touch of tightness. Very smooth. Smoking notes: Very spicy for the first quarter inch or so. After an inch it was very smooth. Overall impression: Not for the faint hearted (read: myself). After the first bit of spiciness, which I enjoyed, it smoothed out. Very rich and smoky. I really wasn't prepared for this one. Someone with an experienced palate would really enjoy this one. [/img]

Excellent Rocky! I really enjoy these, as I really enjoy a full-bodied bomber like this one and the La Flor Dominicana Double Lig. So sorry you picked that as your first one! That's the one you want to work up too. I think it's important that you try all the milds and mediums and let your palate develope naturally, not forcing it. Enjoy the ride..........

Yeah, I guess I should have read a few more reviews on this one. I just did a quick search and came up with a few suprises. One place said it's a stick of dynamite waiting to blow up in your face. I also didn't realize it was full of ligero.

Nice review too. Live and learn with cigars. I keep a "scorecard" when I try a new cigar. Make a few comments about what you like and dont like about it. I glue the band to it as well. Some of the ones I had not liked 2 years ago are ones I like now. I guess that comes with cigar experience.

I have one of these resting in the humi and I may have to give it a try tomorrow. What's a good drink recommendation to compliment it?
I've found that scotch really isn't my kind of drink so any beer or other drinks come to mind?

And it's only like $6.99 / four-pack, locally.

I couldn't find the stout you recommended HOUR, but went with a local one instead. Its brewed in Fort Collins and its called "Chocolate Stout". Hope it works out.

This brew went great with the JdN. Honestly one of the best beers that I've had in a while. Maybe I have just gotten too used to my normal beer selection that I got bored with them. This was a nice pick me up beer. Cigar was fantastic too. Still think that RP Fusion you bombed me with has been my fav overall. That's a great stick.

I agree. I prefer the oatmeal over the rest but this one was great. I have to admit that CO does brew some really good beer.

CO does make some good brews. We've got some pretty decent micro-breweries here in PA now too.
