Cojiba Yellow Dot Torpedo Review

It was a disaster......hard to light. To tight to draw. I tossed it in the flower bed and will never get another unless the store owner guarantees it will draw easily. If I want a workout.......I got better things to do withmy lips. Ughhhhhh! BTW the owner was a stuffy snob that claimed he never sells bad cigars. I got some words for this guy. This is the first real bad experience I have had. If this was the first premium cigar I had ever attempted to smoke I would not be smoking hand made cigars at all. Ughhhh

BangBang, I'm not familar with the stick you are describing. Was it a Cohiba Yellow Band? If so, then your snobby friend stored it too humidified and swelled it up to the point of making hard to draw. Normally a yellow isn't a bad smoke, but I can't justify the price for the taste. In the future, try rolling a cigar lightly between your thumb middle two fingers before lighting. If it feels too tight, use a cigar poker (a thin, pointy metal rod, they can be found in most cigar mmags and online stores) before lighting. This wil open up a channel for the draw. If it feels too loose, has voids, or feels spongey, then place it in a humdor to stabilize for a few days/weeks. Premium smokes cost too much to waste, besides, who wants to see a good smoke go to waste.

One last note, I'm sure you have discovered by now price is not related directly to quality when it comes to hand-rolled cigars. Of late, I've have some $10 sticks that were rockets and some sub-$2 sticks that were great. I'm just glad I didn't buy the $10 sticks! If you check out the reviews in this forum, you'll see that for sure.

Ok.....I went to three different stores today and checked them out. I found a Yellow Dot for $3.00 and it passed the pinch test so I bought it. This stick cost almost half that the other one did. I looked around alot today and found some cigars that were incredibly less in price for the same sticks at the Snob Shop. I will never go there again except to holler at him a bit. I need to see his reaction. My son is getting me a Humidor this week. Woweeeeeeee! This is fun

The $18.00 Cohiba is a completly different Brand altogether.
The ones you have tried are from General Cigar and are decent yard gars.
The expensive ones are the Qbin ones and worth every penny!!

Bangbang, have you checked out www.cigarbid.com ?(good deals there!!!)

Tom

I think we all have. CBid rocks and I'd also recommend checking out Cigarinternational's deals of the week. It changes every Tuesday morning and can be found at this link http://www.cigarsinternational.com/html/spec_wkly.asp

Sometimes they have great deals on hi-end smokes, but the good stuff tends to sell out very quick. The last time they had the Gurkha Legends on sale, they were gone before 10 am.

Another great deal can be found in Kevin's signature.

I usually buy singles from my local shop and once I like something I'll get a box from CBid or CI (which is the same company anyway). They take good care of their cigars and my order usually arrives the next day with just ground shipping because they are located in PA.

I suggest reading this thread which will give you an idea of the different Cohibas and so-called Cohibas.
