Thumbs up LA Gloria Cubana Series R Maduro Review

OK so, I got this cigar in a bomb sent to me and its been calling my name for a week now from my humi.Today was a good day for me so I decided I deserved a treat. I take it out of my humi and look at it the wrapper was dark and oily looking. no real imperfections that I could see only one vein in the wrapper otherwise very nice looking.
I clip then end and head outside to light her up. hard starter for some reason could be my noobness not sure. All I can say is WOW this thing packs a punch I had thought Ive smoked some full bodied cigars before this. Apparently not. I didnt even inhale or anything and I felt like I had been kicked in the chest. I coughed and wheezed a couple of times and came back for more. Either the cigar settled down some or my tastebuds had all been burned off. It burned a little uneven and had to touch it up 3 times. I had the same problem with the 1st hoyo maddie I had and none of the others so Im going to chalk it up to the roll job more than anything else. The ash was a light grey color. I smoked it till there was an 1 1/2" or so left .

My final impression of this cigar are that it's a very nice stick. once it settled down it was very smoothe and very powerfull. As I sit here typing this Im light headed and a little nauseaous. I was a little disappointed with the burn but as I said I think that it was a cigar that was rolled weird or something. Im definetly going to be getting more of these in the future. I dont think I can smoke them regularly right now as its a stick that has more power than what I can handle on a regular basis.as of right now tho this one is a keeper

Very nice review.

I had one of these last week and I have to agree, it was a very good smoke. I had no problems with the draw and found that it was very well constructed. I need to go and grab some more to add to my collection!

Yes they do have a little kick, but if you'll sip a little something with sugar in it you won't feel so queezy. That's what I do when I know I'm about to take on a full power stick. Just my

These are one of my favorite NC's and they do pack a punch. Everyone I've ever smoked had a few burn problems.

I had the same experience with the LGC R. It was among the first dozen or so cigars I ever smoked. Like any good newbie, I gravitated to milder cigars. I've seen my tastes move to more full-bodied cigars during the past year. Just received one in a cool bomb from dadof3illinois. Maybe it's time to give these puppies another try.

The pleasures of cigar smoking can be hard to explain. Wait a minute... tell me again why you liked this experience?

LGC's are great smokes; the maduro is one of my first choices for an after dinner stroll. I never tried one right before breakfast - I should.

These are great smokes but they do tend to have burn issues. I've tried lighting them different ways but nothing changes. To me they have a strong sweet coffee flavor and if you take your time with them they are great but if you get in a hurry they need purged often.

If you like these then you need to try the wavelle (sp) in maduro. These are priced less and still give you a nice punch with loads of great flavor.

Smoked my very first one last Sunday and completely agree with the sweet coffee comments. I truly enjoyed this cigar and I guess I got a great one because the burn really was flawless. Great cigar.

Re: LA Gloria Cubana Series R Maduro

This is another one of my everyday go to. Love the maduro but the natural is great with coffee in the mornings. get a chance try one of the Special Reserves as well. Very nice.

Re: LA Gloria Cubana Series R Maduro

Not being a fan of large RG smokes, I have limited my LGCSR experience to the #4 in both natural and maduro. I find the maduro to be milder and a little sweeter than the natural, with some strength but not overpowering. I have had quite a few of the #4's without any major construction or burn issues. Which size did you smoke?

Couldn't agree more on the flavor and the wavell (clikit for example); a 10-pk every so often makes a nice humi addition. I am now envisioning a summer breakfast Saturday morning on the back porch smoke. Lots of coffee.

Nice Review!

I love the Serie R and prefer the Maduro #5 out of all of them. They do pack a bit of a kick though.

Re: LA Gloria Cubana Series R Maduro

The Serie R Maduro is infamous for it's burn problems. However, I love this stick. What problems I have had have been minor and I have never had one go out on me before. It's worth the struggle of keeping it burning straight to get the flavor out of it. I haven't found another cigar that tastes the same. The larger RG (#6, & 7) are more notorious for burning crooked. The #5s have a few problems but it's not uncommon to find a #5 that burns perfectly straight. The #4's... well... they burn perfect pretty much everytime... but... about the time I REALLY start to enjoy them... they are gone!

Re: LA Gloria Cubana Series R Maduro

I'm going to have to give this cigar another try. I smoked one about a month ago. My impression at the time was that the cigar was medium bodied. I didn't think it was very strong. I like cigars that have a good kick. I didn't feel the LGC had much of one. It wasn't a bad cigar, just not as strong as I like. One thing I remember about the cigar is that it smelled like a horse barn.
