La Flor Dominicana 2000 Series Review
La Flor Dominicana 2000 series (4.75" x 50)
Wrapper: Cameroon Binder: Cuban-seed Dominican Filler: Cuban-seed Dominican Presentation: Cute little stub of a cigar, only 4.75 inches long. Coal-black cameroon wrapper, classy red and gold band with a picture of a pretty flower on it. Great visual appeal. Part of a five cigar sampler pack I picked up at Ray's Tobacco World in Milwaukee, this sample cost me $3.39. Flavor: Massively burnt and punishingly bitter. Bitter, blackened, burnt coffee grounds. Acrid and astringent, bitter, burnt, blackened Brazil nut skins. MAN, this thing was bitter. Having a Cameroon wrapper, I did not expect this. I have recently been smoking some Fuente and Upmann vintage Cameroons and found them delightful. And, as a hard core beer drinker, I am all too familiar with bitterness. I understand that the limits of human taste run to around 120 IBUs (International Bittering Units). This sucker has to be off the charts. Like a pot of coffee that has been left on the burner too long and reduced to a syrup. Smokability: Thank god this thing was only 4.75 inches long or I could never have finished it. I'm thinking that it might go OK with a cup of espresso. But as a late evening after dinner smoke? NFW / NFH. Overall: Poor. D. Do you think I got a damaged or defective sample? Kind of struggling with my cigar choices here lately.

Puffer Fish with some spikes
|
I recently had a La Flor Dominicana Ligero and really enjoyed it. I remember contimplating the 2000 before leaving the store. I am a little hesitant to try one out.

Huge Puffer Fish packed with spikes

These have been a bit hit and miss for me in the past as well. I don't normally care for the Cameroon's myself although sometimes the mood hits me.
