Jesus Fuego 777 Review

Jesus Fuego 777 Toro (6 x 52)

Wrapper: Nicaraguan Maduro Criollo

Binder: Nicaraguan Corojo

Filler: Nicaraguan Corojo and Criollo

Drink: Weyerbacher Old Heathen Imperial Stout (x2)

Presentation: Dark chocolate brown stick with a simple white band bearing the markings "777", "Triple Siete" and "by Jesus Fuego". Gifted to me by my cigar buddy Josef, I did not have the unmitigated gall to inquire as to the cost of the stick. Thanks for the opportunity, Joe.

Flavor: Starts out gently with dry roasted, salted sunflower seed kernels and toasted sesame seeds. Every spice on the spice rack makes a cameo appearance. Transitions quickly and lingers a good long time (~ 30% of the stick) into crusty, bitter-sweet burnt edges of home-made double fudge brownies with walnuts (and coffee in the brownie batter) with bitter, yet rich, black Sumatran coffee on the side. Transitions once again to briefly include cedary soft wood, gunpowder, fireworks, and balloon rubber. Transitions back to double fudge brownies for the duration of the smoke which is savored until the fiery cone of ash stings the nose. Extraordinary.

Smokability: Flawless construction. Flawless draw. Flawless burn. No dicking around with the stick of any kind required. Impossibly cool smoking. Impeccably clean tasting for all of the complexity. No foul after-smoke taint upon the palate.

Overall: Exquisite. A.

Don't think I'd enjoy a cigar that tasted like gun powder, fireworks or balloon rubber......you did smoke a cigar right?

Really?

I taste all kinds of things in just about every cigar I smoke. Some of the flavors (like gunpowder and fireworks) are very subtle. It's not like you get a big mouthfull or nosefull of gunpowder. But I shoot firearms quite a bit too and am familiar with the smell.

I learned something about beer reviewing from one of the most respected beer reviewers in the industry. He had a gift for putting into words what he was tasting. And that's exactly what it is, a gift. One may not always identify the same flavors in any given beer or cigar, but the idea is to convey the impressions. And I'm not in any way, shape or form claiming I have "the gift". But I'm trying.

If you guys find my reviews "annoying", I shall cease posting them.

I dunno.... nothing like the sweet taste in your mouth after being in a poorly ventilated indoor range. Mmmmm . . . lead

I find your reviews enjoyable. I never pick up the specifics in the flavors myself, more just the overall. But everybodies got it different so no worries my man - keep 'em coming!

Gun powder? Fireworks? Balloon rubber (AKA latex)?

Nice review. I have not tried any Jesus Fuego cigars yet. I guess that needs to change.

Only little tiny TRACES of these elements, not overpowering mouthfulls.

I taste all kinds of things in every cigar I smoke.

Doesn't everybody?

Sounds like you've got a discriminating palate, sir. Keep up the good work! I just know how to taste some of the basics, and like what tastes good to me. Same with my drinks - don't know necessarily why Dewars White Label is my favorite scotch, I just know it is smooth for me. I always enjoy reading your posts; it is for cigar reviews!!
