2008 Anejo 46 Review
2004 Fuente Anejo 46 5.63 X 46
Wrapper: Broadleaf Maduro aged in Cognac barrels Binder: Dominican Filler: Dominican Storage: 63 – 65 RH at 63 – 68 F. Construction: Oily dark brown/black wrapper. Rock hard roll. Clipped clean. Prelight: Light cedar, fruit, and dark tobacco aromas. Taste is sweet wood and dark tobacco with floral notes. Medium-firm draw, perfect. Burn: Lit evenly, slightly meandering burn. Off-white ash tinged with charcoal grey. Drink: Hennesy XO, ice-water chaser. Smoking Notes: The first impression is a mixture of sweet notes, light cedar, toasty tobacco with black pepper on the finish. The smoke is thick white and creamy. By the 1/3 point, the cigar has taken on additional cognac and some nice vanilla and chocolate notes. By half way, the toasty tobacco and black pepper notes are quite prominant with the cognac-floral and other flavors shifting in and out. It prettry much remained that way until I nubbed it. Overall Impression: This cigar is still young and the flavors have not yet melded. Rather they kind of sit atop one another and shift in and out a bit too abruptly. Still this is the best Anejo release in several years. Far more powerful and more flavorful than any I can recall since 00 - 01. This will be an great smoke in 6 months - 1 year. |

I KNEW I should have brought a clean pair of underwear with me today. :jerkoff: As a self-proclaimed "Fuente whore" I read your review with great interest and delight. The first few cigars I was given (gifted) that really "turned me on" to the whole cigar smoking thing were Fuente Anejos and Opus X, and I have not lost my adoration of Fuente cigars as of yet. I've completely enjoyed every Fuente cigar I've ever smoked (except for the Candela). "Aged in cognac barrels." :jerkoff: DAMN.

I bought 4 Anejos from this year's batch and was bombed one from Newby.. thanks again Newby!
I like them and could have bought 17 at $10.75 each but I just cant encourage the way Fuente markets these.. They are good but for $10.75 honestly.. I'd rather have a Camacho Triple Maduro and a PAM 64.. But these will rest in my humi and i will smokem when they have ripened to a good age. |

Eh, checking my own reviews here, I guess I wasn't exactly "thrilled to death" with the God of Fire either.
And most definitely NOT worth the $22.00 I paid for it. But this whole "cognac barrel aging" intrigues me. Aging beers in booze barrels is quite the rage right now.

Try a La Aurora Barrel Aged... they run about $6.25 a stick
"La Aurora Barrel Aged cigars are made with ruddy, sweet-smelling Dominican Maduro wrappers, Dominican binders, and Dominican & Nicaraguan binders. The tobaccos have all been aged for four years in Dominican oak barrels once used for aging rum, yielding a flavorful, med-full cigar." sorry didnt mean to threadjack was just making a recommendation if you are intrigued by the congac thing. |

Of all of these I like the 49 the best. The Barrell Age is a nice smoke for the coin and way easier to get.

I've seen these at my local B&M but have passed them up - I may need to reconsider my actions.....this sounds like a great stogie to pick up during my next visit.

Great review, the whole barrel aged thing intrigues me also. I haven't smoked to many of fuente line but this one is going on my list.
