Maxima Reserva; my review

I sure hope you guys are right about these. I just won a box (20) robustos on Cbid for $31.... I really only bid on them because of this thread. Can't go wrong though if they are instead of then I just give em to all those mooches who seem to never have their own gars or to anyone who is already.

I'll be back with a review of my own in a couple weeks.

Let us know what you think. The one I had had was not a robusto but I like the robusto size in cigars. My piramides have been simmering for over a month now since I had one (thanks for reminding me). High time I pulled one out to smoke.

If the Robusto has similar characteristics I wouldn't mind adding a box of those.

Off Topic:

Woke this one up as I decided to do a little research. I had a Roly last night someone tossed my way as a 'You smoke cigars too?' kind of deal. Not wanting to be a snob I took it although I thought at that time it was a real cheapy (forgive me). It felt really wet to me so it sat inside my humi for about two months. Needless to say I lit it up last night and was knocked back by the darned thing. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was.

On topic:

This sparked some research on my part since because when looking at my rotation about two weeks ago I pulled out a Maxima Reserva. My review of it is a little bit up in this thread but it was delcious when I wrote the review. Here it has been simmering in my humidor for some time more and low and behold the one I tried two weeks ago was Awful. Awful to the point of not smoking more than 1/3. I had to look three times to ensure I had the right freaking cigar in my hands. This absolutely sucked.

I looked at some other threads and Palm55 said it elsewhere

I was really taken aback by the flavor of the second Maxima Reserva I tried. It had NO flavor. Bland to the tenth power. Sick? I dunno! Bad definitely. If it is one thing I hate it's inconcistency, but it seems that it is a common thing in the cigar world for many many lines.

All of that to get a Roly second which is $36 bucks for a bundle, and tasted outstanding!!! Seems to me something is wrong with this picture. I sit down with a good drink, a good movie and what is expected to be a good cigar... and get crap, 'some of the time'. Seems like unless a cigar is noted as consistent 5'ers are the way to go (cigar stores should make a 3'fer a new standard).

Well.... I'm not looking forward to my next Maxima Reserva but given how good the first one was I can't ditch them yet. I'll wait another three months or so and try one more. If that one sucks.......

Hmmm, I haven't had one in a while, so now I'm gonna hafta pull one out; mine have been resting for about 5 to 6 months now. I hope they have gotten better
