Montecristo Platinum Review

I smoke all kinds of cigars from the milder sticks to those that are full bodied. Flavor has always been the issue for me. Does the stick have flavor? Regardless of the price does it have flavor? Just last week at a cigar event one of the participants asked me if I had tried a Montecristo Platinum and I told him I had not tried one. He raved about the taste and texture and consequently I put this on my list to try. Other than Cuban Montecristos I usually pass this stick up. I picked one up in Orlando on a business trip and I must say this is a great smoke for the mild to medium strength smoker. Montecristo Platinum cigars are made beautifully with a wrapper that is velvet in nature. It has a Mexican San Andres Cubano wrapper and filler and binder of vintage Dominican, Nicaraguan and Peruvian tobaccos. The cigars come in a decorated box with painting on the humidor-style boxes by acclaimed master painter, Michel Delacroix, depicting Havana's famous harbor during Cuba's golden days. They are not a value smoke so expect to pay around ten bucks a stick. Goes beautifully with a coffee or latte. Long Ashes

To me MonteCristo makes only one cigar and it is the # 2 from our soon to be Caribbean friend also I enjoyed # 4 on my recent trip to Italy. In all due honesty I have tried a Dominican #2 and I was very unimpressed to the point of throwing it away. Just last month I was at J&R Paramus and they had the White label Monte as part of their weekly sale (all sale cigars are $3.00) so I picked one up.
To my surprise I very much enjoyed the cigar although I am not a fan of Dominican Tobacco. I returned the following week and of course the sale was over and the retail price was $9.00. All was not lost though as I was looking behind the counter I saw a box of Opus X with a remaining 6 Belicosos which I purchased at $12.00 per stick retail.
