Thumbs up Don Pepin Fresh-Rolled Review

(I posted this on CP as well)

Alrighty. This was really a beauty to behold. A picture will come later as it is dark, and my camera sucks at night, and I have a couple of these left to take more pictures with. Here is my "**** post" with some pictures of the total allotment.

Prelight: The specimen is a dark robusto measuring 5X50 with a nice thin sheen of oil, and has a very nice "Habano" smell of hay and other barnyard odors. I circumcised the cap with my Xikar, and the draw was firm like a working man's shake of the hand, and tasted of light cedar and barnyard.

I lit this stick up and was presented with an explosion of leathery flavors with a hint of cedar in the background and on the finish. This continued through the first inch. As it rounded into the second inch, wood became the dominant flavor. There was much cedar flavor to be had here, and now the leather was in the background and finish; a straight 180 of the original flavors. Here i noticed that the wrapper was giving me an elusive sweetness that I could not define. It hammered my sweet taste buds, but that's all it did, it gave them something to think about, but no definite flavor that i could discern. Coming into the third inch, we are back to the hammering of leather flavors with a very very slight hint of citrus on the finish. Halfway through the 3rd inch, I find a tantalizing taste that I'm not sure exists... smoked pork!?... No, thats not right... Yeah, smoked pork. It is there, but ever so lightly. It leaves after 5 puffs or so. Nearing the end of inch 3, I'm starting to get a little bit of a buzz, I'm not going to want to drive by the time this one is done. Going into the 4th inch, the leather comes back into the picture and just slams everything else out of the way. With 1.5 inches left to go, the leather gives way to a perfect blend of leather, citrus, and herbals with a bit of berry sweetness on the finish. Finally, at about 1.25 inches left, the leathery flavors come back to finish out this piece of mastery with a bang.

1-10? 12! This stick is a real piece of art. I can't wait for my next one! Scrumdilyicious!
