Puros Indios Pyramide # 1 Review

Last night i smoked my first PI. This was a beast of a cigar 7.5 X 60. I knew this was gonna take awhile anyway, the prelit smell smelled pretty good, just about any other natural. The construction was great and held up really nice whenever i wasnt paying attention and did a very slow crushing cut (I was playing poker). It took a lil bit to get this lit. The smell now was glorious. I tasted it and it was quite good. For me it tasted a lil spicy and a tiny bit creamy. It was a smooth cigar and id say it was a light-medium bodied smoke.
I was right... the first half hour only got about 1 inch to 1.5 inches down on it. In total it took me about 2 hours and 15 mins. It was a good cigar and I would definately recomend it, especially if you were looking for a kinda smooth cigar.

Re: Puros Indios Pyramide # 1

Nick,

My compliments on the review! While I haven't done the naturals, I HAVE done several of Piramides maduros. And I would agree with your characterization of body and flavor!

If you're thinking about more of these, I would suggest considering the "Special Aged" sticks in a 6-pack Mazo... They can be had for a reasonable sum on C-bid, and (IMHO) they're well worth having on-hand!

Again... my compliments on the review!

Re: Puros Indios Pyramide # 1

Nick/Palm/Anyone else,

Seems like with Puros Indios the reviews are love em or hate em, not a lot of in between. I have got some on the way from mailorder based on some reviews I've read, and I think I will like them.
Does anyone have any input on the Reserva Maxima line by Puros Indios. On Cigars International they are pretty pricey. I have seen them on CBID for very reasonable prices. Any recommendations?

BILLY,

My understanding is that the he Rerva Maxima line runs a bit on the "full" side. I haven't tried them (yet)... But AGAIN, I would suggest letting ANY of your Purios selections REST for a month before passing judgement.

Just my opinion, Bill... And (FYI) I'm one who can't resist the temptation of samling the "greenies!"

Re: Puros Indios Pyramide # 1

The reserva maxima is a bit more full bodied, a bit more complex, than the usual PI stuff.

Palm's got it right though, let any PI cigar rest for as long as you can stand to look at it. I have a few PI's in the bottom of my Igloo that have been there for a year and a bit. Last one I smoked was smooth and creamy.

Try the reserva maxima if you can get it in your price range, they are good cigars.

I have 2 mazos of these and haven't touched em yet (unusual for me). I am looking for ward to them. I also have some reserva maximas and have smoked one of them; excellent cigar and smoke; all that I want in a cigar. Good review

I prefer more on the full bodied side so i would probably enjoy the reserva maxima.

I bought a box of the reserva maxima off cbid fro a great price 60% off retail or so. robusto maduros.
I have had 3 so far . I cant stand it the day I get an order in I always smoke one then I waited a week had another and so on for the 3rd. they are a great stick reminds me of earthy tones maybe little cinamon? anyway very good cigar. very mellow billed as a full bodied stick IMO its more on the med side of full.but not quite a med
Im trying very hard to let them rest since I dont have a very stocked humidor I cant really hide them under anything so I have to look at them every time I open my coolerdor

I agree about the "Special Aged" as the over seven years of aging AFTER ROLLING give them a whole different character. Even these are better, though, if taken out of the mazo of six and cello and allowed to breathe for a week or two before smoking. Agreed that the regular Puros Indios need at least several months, especially the thicker ring sizes.

Just got a pack last night in the mail from the devil site. I'll let these breathe a little and then get to them.
