Opus X double corona Review

Well we’re finally starting to have some very nice weather here in New York and I love to take advantage of it. So today I decided to smoke a cigar gifted to me for my birthday from smokinj. What a perfect afternoon I had outside with my kids my cigar and some Ron Zacappa rum, it all made for a great day. As for the cigar if I had to guess it probably had about 6 years of age on it, just the right time to take out for a smoke. The one main thing I need to say about this cigar is it was smoooooth no harshness at all that you could get from some of the younger Opus X’s they really do need time to rest before they are smoked. There was a lot of tar build up once I started smoking which could account for my buzz that I had working (or it could have been the rum not sure) but nothing to where I would want to put it down. I have to say I do have one more of these thats got about the same age on it and I would like to pair it with a coffee and see what that does to the flavors because I think it would truly bring them out more, the cigar had a nice leathery tone to it with some coffee notes in the background. If I had to rate this cigar on a scale from 1 to 10 I’d easily give it an 8.5. Now where this cigar was a great cigar it did have its issues with keeping it lit, I found myself retouching it a lot, not enough to make me stop smoking it but enough for me to not give it a solid “9” if it had a better burn it would have hands down been a 9. Now after I smoked it someone on the forum said to let it drybox to get it down to 60% humidity because of the rosado wrapper so I will be revisiting this cigar again over the summer and I’m going to take that advice along with pairing it with the coffee and see how it goes.

Well, since you only gave it an 8.5, I'm not really interested in one.

it would have gotten a 9 if it wasn't for the burn issue

Great review Joe, and yes the dry box will help cure the burn issues with this thick rosado wrapper.
