Thumbs up Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial Corona Review

Hello all, this my first review, so here I go!! I fired this one up yesterday morning and after this review, I am going to fire up another! Wow, it was a fantastic smoke! These SLRRE coronas have been resting in my humidor for 4 & 3/4 months @64-69%RH and the loving caress given by the hands of time surely did not disappoint. I smoked one when I first recieved the the box and as far as I can remember, it was pretty one dimentional...leathery.

Now I am more of Robusto and Toro sized cigar smoker but this corona was a very nice medium bodied smoke and flavorful. With it's Natural Nicaragua Wrapper, Nic. binder and Hondo filler produced volumes of rich cedary and nutty smoke... the finish was pleasantly spicey yet oh so smooth. I smoked it to the nub. The SLRRE also matched well with my French Roast cup of coffee. A great way to start the Day! For the price, I believe this is certainly a great value smoke. Well, here's my first review, not to descriptive, but my point: try the SLRRE corona with some age... a tastey treat!

Re: Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial Corona

Great review and welcome to CS.

The whole SLR line is pretty good IMHO. And when you take the price into consideration, it's even better. I really like the rothchildes, which you can get at certain auction sites around $80 per 50 count cab.

Very nice review! I really enjoyed the one I had, and I am now on the hunt for a box or cab.

I used to get effusive about these. The Rothchild is a good one to choose. They aren't bad for $1.50 a copy or whatever it is in the 50 cab. Prolly less than that. Decent nutty woodsy smoke. try the Puros Indios and tell us what you think. Not a breakfast smoke though. More unique earthiness less nuttiness.

Nice review. I dig the rothschilds. Nice smokes for a good price. I'll pick up a corona one day soon and give it a go.

Mike:
Good review. The Saint Luis Rey is one of my favorite smokes, and the price is great as well The taste, construction and draw are firts rate. I prefer the toro but, I figure any size of this cigar will be good. Enjoy!

For a good mild to medium smokes, try the Punch Grand Cru, Perdomo Exclusivo, or Sancho Panza's, I have found that these have never let me down when I want something a little lighter on the palate. Both the PE's and SP's are quite a bargain too! All of these I smoke have Connecticut Shade wrappers.

Re: Saint Luis Rey Reserva Especial Corona

Ive had the gran Cru and love it, and sancho panza's and you can't go wrong there. I haven't had the perdomo exclusivo, but Ive been having bad luck with every other perdomo Ive smoked....
