I don't see how a cigar rated 80-85 could be rated as impressive. If you got a c or c+ in you school grades, I would not call the impressive, but Mediocre. From looking at the reviews, it looks like the cigar was anything but impressive.

Perhaps we will be able to tighten-up the verbiage for point summaries/characterization. I agree in your assessments that this cigar could be construed as being mediocre from my experience, at least.

I just tried the same cigar this am, and would agree 100% with the the ratings given. The cigar was tight, and gave small amts of smoke; it was one deintional. This cigar is made by General Cigar, which mass produces these. I thought it was the closest thing to a machine made cigar, with the same quality of flavor and smoke. Would I buy a box? Definately not. I have had two dollar cigars that were a whole lot more enjoyable.

I have not had a Partagas yet that I thought hey I need to buy some more of these. I'm not ragging on them, just not my cup of tea.

I do not care for this cigar (or most Partagas). 83 seems about right.

I bought some of these about 6 months ago and let them age a bit before I took it out of the humi and smoked it. While I enjoy the Maduro Partagas #10 very much I wasn't very impressed with the Spanish Rosado and would probably give it an 83 as well. When I hear about a cigar that is given a very good score I will usually purchase about 3 of them. If there are other cigars that are given a solid recommendation by members on here I will usually buy 3 of them as well. I respect quite a bit as to what others on here say about the cigars they smoke and I find that their opinion ranks higher than what I read on CA or other boards. I stopped buying boxes of cigars on others recommendations some years back as it just wasn't cost effective. If I happen on to a great single cigar that I like a lot, then I order a box or more of them.

I agree the #10s that I have had have been pretty good. Rated earlier 96 in CA.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. It's really hard to rate a cigar like this one because of the inconsistency. When the construction was not an issue, this was not a tasting bad cigar -- nothing great, but better than some I have smoked.

After looking back at my review, maybe I should have rated it lower in some areas, but as the old saying goes "Hindsight is 20/20". This review process is still new for us, and over time we will get better and will be able to provide even better reviews.

I would have to agree with Russ regarding the difficulty in reviewing a cigar that really was poorly constructed (IMHO). One really doesn't know how to proceed with assessing the qualities of the cigar when it right off the bat there are issues that prevent smoking it. It is great to see some feedback from others here and that I was not far off at least with what has been reported on the Spanish Rosado from those that spoke up. Good to see some others talking on the subject. Thanks!

I honestly don't think I have every tried any of the partigas. But I agree with some of the above posts, it is hard to rate a cigar with construction flaws, but that is part of the cigar right? If you have multiple samples and they all show the same flaws, then you must think that is consistent across the line.

As for the scores, I think we should read the reviews and that will tell us what we think of the cigar. 80 = impressive? I doubt it, but hey it is really hard to give a cigar a really bad score. Would a cigar really get a 50, doubt it, 70? that's even pushing it. So I think by reading the reviews we get a good idea of what the conclusion is.

Brent, this is exactly why we compose a detail write-up of the cigars we review. Ratings can give you a quick idea of how a cigar performs, but without the details of a thorough review to back up the rating, it's somewhat meaningless.

I was personally hoping that the Rosada wrapper on these were going to add a pleasant spiciness to the flavor of the cigar. That hope fell away as soon as I lit one up.
