Connecticut Churchill by Pedro Estevez

Once again I am reviewing one of the four cigars sent to me by Habanos & Hermanos. Today’s selection is the Connecticut Churchill. Here is the info from the web page.

Churchill Cigars - Medium Bodied - 7 x 48 - Wrapper Connecticut
Brand: Pedro Estevez
Shape: Churchill
Flavor: Medium
Size: 48 x 7 1/4 "

Post Light:

This is a well-constructed cigar sporting a medium tan Connecticut wrapper and decent looking triple cap. There are no noticeable soft spots and the wrapper appears slightly bumpy with some minor veining. The rich smell of hay is prominent as I run this stick past my nose with the smell of sweet hay and clover at the foot. A quick clip with my XiKar cutter reveals a clean cut and a nice even draw with the taste of sweet clover, a touch of spice and just rite amount of resistance.

Post Light Start 9:35am Finish 11:05am

This cigar started out pretty quiet but soon picked up a strong leather taste and a slightly acidic flavor that reminded me of plain yogurt but not in a bad way. This was pretty consistent throughout the first third. Heading into the second third the predominant flavors started to mix and mellow just a bit into sort of a sweet molasses and I started to notice just a bit of spice on the retrohale. The leather was still present and I also noted that it was not holding its mixed light and dark gray ash very well. Other than the occasional hint of nuts here and there this cigar stayed pretty well consistent throughout the rest of the smoke. Did I nub it? Yes.

Conclusion:

All in all this is a decent medium to mild cigar, well constructed, good flavor and nice even burn. For the price ($1.28/ stick + shipping and tax if it applys) I don't see how you can go wrong giving this one a try.

Disclaimer:

I received these cigars at no charge from Habanos & Hermano for the purpose of review. Other that I have not received any compensation from Habanos & Hermano, Pedro Estevez, any one associated with them for doing these reviews nor do I work for any of the above mentioned parties.
