Rocky Patel Edge Sumatra

Size: 6 x 52 Toro

$5.75 at my B&M

My Rating 9.5/10

Wrapper: Sumatra
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama

This cigar doesn’t have a standard band. Instead, it has a small single red band around the foot. It gives it a very distinct look, kind of chic. For it's size, the cigar actually was heavier than it appeared to be. I guess Rocky really packs it full. So I was expecting a hard draw. The wrapper was nice and dark, the cigar was firm, not spongy. Just some very small veins on the wrapper. This cigar is actually kinda "sexy".

I clipped the end and took a whiff, I found the aroma to be light and sweet. Don't laugh, but it reminded me of a barnyard. The sweetness of the mouldering hay mixed with all the other barnyard smells. Actually quite pleasant. When I did a pre-light draw, I finally tasted the "mythical" hint of chocolate. Not anything as sweet as a candy bar, more like the way cocoa powder smells, that's what I tasted.

I fired this sexy cigar up with my torch, it lit very easy and throughout the smoke burned slow and even. It is the easiest drawing cigar I have smoked to date. Just a little puff on the end and I got a mouthfull of rich, sweet smoke. This is a very rich and sensual cigar. I said that the pre light taste was kind of like cocoa. When lit is is very earthy and sweet, with almost woody or nutty flavor. I really like this cigar. It showed me flavors that other guys talk about, but I had not experienced yet. After about halfway the smoke became spicy, almost peppery. The sweetness and earthyness of it was gone. I was very disappointed in that. Although it was getting spicier, it started to take on almost a citrus flavor. Not really like tasting an orange, but kind of just the tangyness of it. This is another new sensation for me. I cannot speak highly enough about this cigar. I want to buy a box, but my B&M doesn't have any. I really like this cigar.
Go get a few.

I've tried the maduro and didn't care for it that much. I'll give the sumatra a try.

Good Review.

Great cigar and, as far as I know, not made any more....

This was my go to stick for almost a year.

Yeah they are not made anymore. The one I smoked I also thought it was sweet, but a sweet taste I could never pin point. That sweet taste I couldn't get just didn't agree with my taste buds. But I will say it was a well made cigar and was doing cigar tricks like ash stands
