Padron 1964 Ann. Review

These are the most over rated cigars i have ever smoked. I just don't get it.

In fact, i have yet to smoke one i found truely enjoyable. They are passable, barely. I find them bland to boarder line harsh. I've probably smoked around 30 - 40 of these, of various sizes, both Maduro and Natural, and i will not be buying any more. Hell, at this price point there are cigars that are much better, and at a quarter of the cost.

Just my experience --- YMMV

Don't hold back, Greg! MAO

I do agree that these cigars are highly overrated. My experience with them is not quite as great as yours, somewhere around 20 sticks, about half maduro and half natural.

I did not find these to be harsh at all. I did find them to be well constructed, with a good burn. The failure of these cigars is in the flavor/price ratio. These cigars are one note, and IMHO the note is a little flat. I would much rather have 3-4 other NC cigars at the same price as 1 PA, or several cubans for that matter. Case in point is Klugs brilliant taste test between the PA and Fonseca KDT.

The results are pretty even, however I think if you polled the more experienced smokers who participated the Fonseca would win by a greater margin.

There are some "premium" NC sticks that are worth (to me) the occasional indulgence, this line is not one of them.

Different strokes, for different folks. Personally, I've only smoked one I didn't like -- bad stick -- and I've smoked hundreds.

And the Padron 1926 40th anniversary is one of the best cigars I've ever had period.

I agree with the fact that the Padron Anni line is overrated but I have to say when I find a cigar bland to barely passable I usually stop at 10. 30-40 cigars is a lot for something you don't like. There a good quality cigar but I have met to many people who think this is the only NC worth smoking on the market.

This is one cigar I've been dying to try. From everything I read it's one of the best non-cubans you can buy.

I agree with you. For some odd reason i've only tasted one mentionable "Tasting note" with these.

I think they are one dimensional.
I'm trying some more soon and will write up some reviews,
but as of right now the ones i've smoked haven't lived up to the hype

Re: Padron 1964 Ann.

I've had hit-or-miss experiences with them. When my local B&M forst started carrying them I had a Maddie Imperial. I loved it. Everyone I had from that box was wonderful.

So I bought a box. Over $300 for a box. And no cigar in that box has been as good as those I got from that first box the B&M had. Since that time, I've smoked quite a few from a number of B&M's. If I find one I like, I buy several. My last find was an excellent box of natural exclusivos. I bought the rest of the box the next day. And, they've all been good.

And, I am at the point where I believe the naturals are more flavorful than the maduros.

Re: Padron 1964 Ann.

I am glad that some you do not care for them that means more for me.

I just bought a box of the 1926 #2 NAT. I have smoked 3 so far and they are worth every cent. I have also smoked the #35's and found them also great. I do find the nat better in the 1964 and 1926 but I like the mad in the traditional line.

It would be boring if we all liked the same thing.

Re: Padron 1964 Ann.

I think the 26's and 64's are great sticks. I have a had a bad one from time to time. Then again I have had had bad sticks from most brands from time to time. Now if you want to compare what is over rated I say Opus is way more over rated than Padrons. I like Opus but still a bit over rated in my opinion. That is the great thing about cigars. The vast selections for everyones taste. I always say one mans dog rocket is another mans Opus in the world of cigars.Just my (whatever thats worth) RJT

Couldn't have said it better. I'd rather have ISOM's than anything, but if I have to go NC, the Padron 64's and 26's are great. Don't mind a VSG every now and then either.

I concur Padron Anny's are by far some of the most consistent and flavorful cigars on the market today. I love their taste and the way they burn is near perfect everytime. I had one about 2 months ago that was crack from someone dropping it and it burnt perfect from top to bottom. Don't sweat it though, you can have all the cuban Romeos and I will take the Padron anny's.............Deal?
