Santa Rosa Toro Maduro Review
/*================================================= =================*/
/*========================== CIGAR_REVIEW ==========================*/ /*================================================= =================*/ DATE: 2006/05/02XX REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper CIGAR: Santa Rosa Toro Maduro SIZE: 6" X 50 ORIGIN: Honduran WRAPPER: Honduran BINDER: Honduran FILLER: Honduran SHAPE: Toro AGE: Recent purchase, in storage since 2006/03/13 VENDOR: Box from CigarBid auction. Price around $1.40 US each. AMBIENCE: 9Pm in my usual chair on the back deck. Cool and breezy with relatively low humidity. BEVERAGE: Tap-water APPEARANCE: Black rough veiny lumpy wrapper that was rock hard. I could pound nails with this cigar. Extremely light in weight. PRE_LIGHT: Almost no odor discernable. Predraw had that good maduro flavor. DRAW: Pretty tight for the first 1/2 inch, perfect after that FIRST_THIRD: The smoke is very mild, but all the flavor in the saliva is wonderful. Cocoa & chocolate, sort of like licking cocoa butter off a Polynesian girl's thighs. I like it. <G> SECOND_THIRD: The coffee flavor begins to surface here, pushing the other flavors to the background. FINAL_THIRD: Taste went downhill quickly for an inch or so, and got rather harsh. Then slowly went back to coffee except slightly burned coffee. I still liked this taste. BURN: Ragged uneven burn that never quite made me reach for a lighter. Unever but steady. ASH: Dark grey flakey ash. SMOKE: Bluish floral smelling smoke. Didn't taste at all like it smelled though, cocoa and coffee throughout. STRENGTH: Mild, turning to medium at 2/3 smoked. FLAVOUR: Cocoa, coffee and butter primarily. FINISH: Left me with a similar taste/feeling to having just drank a good cup of coffee. Stayed with me for a good 20 minutes afterwards. SMOKE_TIME: an hour even. IMPRESSION: The last box I had of these were in the humidor for 6 or 7 months before smoking any of them. This box is very new, so I think they might be better after a few more months. RATING: 5 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks. COMMENTS: I know it's cheap; I know it's common and I know it isn't Cuban, but I like this cigar and will probably keep some around for occasional use. /*================================================= =================*/ /*============== BEST VIEWED IN LUCINDA CONSOLE FONT ===============*/ /*================================================= =================*/ |
