FIRE- Rocky Patels Corojo Blend Review

This will be the third cigar I have smoked of this brand and wanted to let any other RP fans to know about this "bargain brand" cigar as it is called. I went back to see if anyone had done a review on this cigar and it was done back in 2007 so thought I'd give it another review almost 2 years later.

I didn't want to appear too excited about this particular brand by Rocky because I pretty much love all of his cigars,,,but this one got my attention right out of the gate. It was just a bit tight before lighting so I took my drawpoker out and went to work. After using this tool I toasted the foot and the first draw was really good,,, roasted pepper as I like it with a hint of leather. The ash held really tight and as I got thru about an inch of the first part it has a nice grey ash while taking on a somewhat sweeter flavor. Getting into the 2nd third of this cigar was really nice as the marrying of the tobacco pepper and sweetness made me think of other premium cigars. The last third of this cigar was even better as I nubbed this cigar as well as the ones I had smoked before,,,,this cigar even though a medium stick tasted like a medium to full and kept me going with a great taste til the end. At the price point you can buy these I don't know how you can go wrong. Burn, consistancy and flavor are the hallmarks of any cigar I smoke and this one has all 3. Buying a box of these is a must for me. Enjoy!

Gary, how does this compare with the corojo in the OWR line? I happen to love those. Thanks for the review.

Gotta be honest with you about these,,when I was told about this cigar I thought,,,oh no, this can't honestly be a decent cigar but I was curious as well and won the auction for 12 of these for $9. Worst case scenario I will smoke these when I do the yard,,,when I tried the first one it was really good. The second one was just as good and after the third one I had to write this review,,,it is hands down the best cigar for the money I have ever smoked and I have been smoking for 40 years. It's got the taste, burn, consistancy and it challenges me for the taste it has. You can barely buy dog rockets for what I got these for. If you are a RP fan wait til you try it Scott,,,let me know how you like it when you smoke them.

I agree 100% with you and this will be a staple in my humidor from now on.

I have had the Old World quite a bit and to be honest with you the FIRE has a bit more kick to it,,,,if there is a choice between the two I will smoke the FIRE,,,that is just how impressed I am with this sucker. I am a RP and Don Pepin disciple and on occasion will try others but this cigar impressed me for a few reasons,,,,not that I am all about price but this cigar can be had for less than a $1 a stick on C Bid and I have had cigars in the $4- $8 range that would be hard pressed to beat this "Fire-cracker" of a cigar. It has good taste,,,it burns excellent and only needed one touch up after ashing,,,this would be a great cigar for an ash contest. The taste would change subtly back and forth and I nubbed every single one of them. If you want a cigar that has a bit of everything to it and at a great price point this is one of the best I have had.

Appreciate the thoughts,,,let me know what you think after smoking a couple. I did let mine rest for about a month before firing them up.
