Review - Original Counterfeit Cuban Robusto

[SIZE=3][SIZE=3]/*================================================= =================*/
/*========================== CIGAR_REVIEW ==========================*/
/*================================================= =================*/
DATE: 2006/XX/XX
REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper
CIGAR: Original Counterfeit Cuban
SIZE: 5" X 50
ORIGIN: Nicaraguan
WRAPPER: EMS
BINDER: Nicaraguan
FILLER: Nicaraguan
SHAPE: Robusto
AGE: Unknown
VENDOR: Gifted by Pegleg (Thanks again!)
AMBIENCE: On the front porch today. 7PM, warm but comfortable,
just a bit more humid than necessary.
BEVERAGE: None
APPEARANCE: Nice looking mottled lightly veined wrapper. A bit
heavy and just noticably oily. What I'd call "hefty".
PRE_LIGHT: Earthy heavy pre-light draw and a good smell overall.
DRAW: Near perfect draw, with just the right amount of
resistance that I favor.
FIRST_THIRD: Upon first lighting this was very harsh. Mellowed out
after three puffs. This is very good tasting, earthy
and sort of sweet. After an inch smoked, tiny beads
of oil started sweating through the wrapper right at
the burn-line.
SECOND_THIRD: The earthy sweetness grew but stayed pleasant and
mellow.
FINAL_THIRD: Stayed very consistent to the nub, no harshness at all.
BURN: Nice even burn with a sizzling noise with each puff
as the beads of oil burned.
ASH: Firm solid light colored ash; no annoying flakiness.
SMOKE: Medium smoke volume, but sweet and almost creamy.
STRENGTH: Medium
FLAVOUR: All earthy and sweetness.
FINISH: I was hungry but put off dinner for a half hour just
to savor the after-taste of this cigar.
SMOKE_TIME: 55 minutes.
IMPRESSION: With a name like this, I thought it was some type of
joke cigar, but it was very good. I don't know the
age on this, although cello looked new, but I might
want to get some of these.
RATING: 7 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks.
COMMENTS: As I was surprised by a bad Trilogy the other day, I
was surprised by this one, which I was sure wasn't
going to be very good from looking at the band. I'd
be interested to read what anybody else thinks of these.

Re: Review - Original Counterfeit Cuban Robusto

Allow me to dig up an old topic...

I ordered a box of these today. The name alone is worth the $40 to try a few.

Worst Case Scenario: They'll be fun at a HERF.

They're OK, maybe better than OK. One of the many frontmarks made for JR by Perdomo. I've tried a few and had to pitch them because of construction issues, but Perdomo is much improved since then.

Re: Review - Original Counterfeit Cuban Robusto

Yeah, I just found out today that Perdomo makes them for JR.

I've spent a lot of time on Perdomo Cigars, so I'll have a few to reference.

Re: Review - Original Counterfeit Cuban Robusto

These are pretty good; I dunno if anyone else has tried the 1958 LE version of the Genuine Counterfeits (at JRs), but I would rank them a bit higher. The cost difference is not too great (around $90/cab of 50), and contruction is certianly better.
