Montecristo Platinum Toro Review
Just finished my first one of these and wanted to pass on my thoughts:
Size: 6", 50 ring size Wrapper: Mexican San Andres Cubano Binder: Nicaraguan Filler: Dominican, Nicaraguan and Peruvian First Third: A little difficult to light, but got it going. It was pretty harsh immediately after lighting, but mellowed a bit after about 5 minutes. Definitely a full bodied cigar. Seemed to be more body than spice through the first third. But started to show some leather and cracked pepper toward the end of the first third. Second Third: Leather and pepper now fully developed. Still full bodied. The ash as tight and light gray with black striations. Draw was even and good. Smooth burn. Last third: Leather and pepper faded a bit, but good draw. Overall, a very good cigar. Very full bodied with some decent spice. It was bit more than I expected in body. It was, however, my first Montecristo. Hope this helps..

Hi guys, as you might know already, Cuenca Cigars will be featuring an Exclusive Presentation of the Montecristo Brand of Cigars this Friday, 13th 2009. While celebrating the Saint's Patrick Day I thought it would be a nice idea to bring one of the most acclaimed and well known cigars that is Montecristo entire brand of Cigars.
The Montecristo brand originated in Cuba, but the Dominican version of this popular cigar is made by Altadis, with Dominican filler tobacco and Connecticut shade wrappers and is also known per its consistence on flavor and quality. Re: Montecristo Platinum Toro Review
I just had one of these last night. It's been sitting in the bottom of my humi for almost a year now, and I decided to light fire to this one last night. At times the burn was a bit crooked, but it only required one touch up, and even that probably would have fixed itself had I let it go. This cigar was very densely packed as it took me over two hours and two cups of coffee to smoke! The start was a bit mild while it built up towards the middle. Pretty standard earth/leather flavors until the last third where I started getting a bit of a roasted marshmallow taste. My gf has always liked these, but I hadn't tried one until last night. If I can continue to find these things in the $3.50-$5.00 range, I think they're a good buy!

MCuena, maybe you want to post this in the Retail/For Profit section. Sorry, but that was a total thread-jack! =\
Thanks for the review Dan, and interesting marshmallow taste eh? I'll look for these in my b&m maybe. |
