601 Maduro Box Press Review

Being a Pepin fan I have been anxious to smoke this one. For those who might want to know what cigars I like and are curious as to what I look for in a cigar I usually like Pepin, RP and Fuente cigars in the full bodied area. I prefer a complex cigar with an ever changing mix of taste of pepper and spice, chocolate or cocoa and an earthy body to them. Pre light the cigar was nice and firm and smelled really good with an oil sheen to it. I clipped it just barely off the top and blew thru the cigar and back in and it had a really easy draw to it. Toasting it didn't take long and was drawing the nice peppery smoke in very easily. I did dry box this cigar for a couple of days and it smoked really easy with no draw problems whatsoever. The first third was a nice pepper and hint of coffee and chocolate and it wasn't until the 2nd third that I had to torch it again to keep it consistant. It was much the same flavor thru the 2nd third but when I hit the last third I was getting nice changes of chocolate and coffee with some earth added to it. I was busy giving another review on this cigar and in my haste let the cigar go out,,,my bad. On relight it kept giving me the same great flavor and taste and I nubbed this thing and would have liked at least another couple of inches. I would give this cigar a solid 4 out of 5 and for any Pepin fan this is a must.
