Review - "Old Fashioned" Robusto
/*================================================= =================*/
/*========================== CIGAR_REVIEW ==========================*/ /*================================================= =================*/ DATE: 2006/05/07 REVIEWER: Timothy "Texan_To_The_End" Piper CIGAR: "Old Fashioned" Robusto SIZE: 4.5 X 50 ORIGIN: Dominican WRAPPER: Ecudoran BINDER: Honduran FILLER: Dom, Nic, Mex SHAPE: Robusto AGE: Unknown VENDOR: Gifted by Pegleg (Thanks again!) AMBIENCE: Another warm pleasant evening in Houston, with just slight humidity. BEVERAGE: None APPEARANCE: Dry used-to-be-oily wrapper which was very smooth. Looked like the GPEDD except darker. PRE_LIGHT: Nice smell but not much flavor or taste when taking a few pre-light puffs. DRAW: A bit tighter than usual draw which did loosen up upon lighting. FIRST_THIRD: Sort of an earthy-barnyard taste, which developed a bit of sweetness eventually. SECOND_THIRD: Turned a little bit milder and developed just a touch of sweetness. FINAL_THIRD: Finally got a little nic from this, and started to turn just a bit peppery. BURN: Pretty even and very slow burn. ASH: Light colored very firm ash with no yellow center. SMOKE: Good smoke volume but just the single taste and not much complexity. STRENGTH: Medium-Light with very little nic kick. FLAVOUR: Taste was basically earthy, with just hints of more enticing flavors. Didn't develop during the smoke. FINISH: Not a lot of taste left once I set it down. SMOKE_TIME: 45 minutes. IMPRESSION: Depending on price, this would be a good yard working cigar or to give to non-cigar smokers who wouldn't appreciate one of your better sticks. Decent, but I probably won't stock up on them . RATING: 5 out of a possible TEN wooden matchsticks. COMMENTS: I did nub this cigar, so even though a straight middle of the road rating, it isn't the worst cigar I've had. /*================================================= =================*/ /*============== BEST VIEWED IN LUCINDA CONSOLE FONT ===============*/ /*================================================= =================*/ |
