Drew Estate Java Maduro Review

I've decided to try my hand at reviewing a Cigar. I've had less than 5 so this is from a novice.

I took it out of the wrapper that it's been in since I bought it. I don't have a humidor yet so it's been sitting in a Casa Magna box that I have in the closet. It stays around 68~ish but I have no way of keeping track with the humidity which can be one of the issues I had with the actual smoking.

Lighting

I had a problem lighting it because I was outside. I started with an uneven burn and it never righted it's self fully.

First 1/3

Tasting the flavoring and the smoke together kinda made me ask "who peppered my coffee?". The Maduro wrapper peppery taste didn't really blend with the coffee taste for me.

Second 1/3

There was a taste I couldn't put my finger on so I puffed a little too much and it got hot on me. I just decided it was a beefy/leathery taste which was a welcome flavor to the very spicy taste. The uneven burn is still not righted itself, I don't care though, now I want a good pot roast.

Last 1/3

Well, the spice finally phased out and gave way to a decent tobacco taste. Good finish, like it took me on a ride an set me down gently.

Final thought

It took me only 45 minutes from start to finish, part of which I blame on me not having a proper humidor. The Cigar had what I'm starting to call a "top heavy" flavor meaning most of the taste went to the top of my mouth with little being done with the "bottom". I enjoyed it simply to expand my pallette.

Nice first review. I'm not much for flavored cigars, but the Java and Java Latte are nice smokes.

The one I smoked took me on the same ride as you described. If you would like to try one that is not so peppery try the Latte or the Tabak Especial Dulce line. Drew Estate also makes the Isla Del Sol which is coffee infused but may be to sweet and mellow for you but I love them.

Re: Drew Estate Java Maduro Review

Just tried the Java Maduro myself today. I'm not too big on flavored smokes but this one was nice. I really loved the mocha coffee flavor. No burn issues until the nub, then it got a bit lopsided. I thought the Maduro added a nice flavor to the very chocolatey taste..I won't be buying a box but it was a very pleasant change of pace....

Re: Drew Estate Java Maduro Review

I just had the latte this morning and I enjoyed it alot, but I have enjoyed many like this. I have heard mixed reviews. Try a cask strength II by 5 vegas, nice hints of vanilla!

KickUtoSleep, Anomoly, have any more up for trade? Hit me up

I'm in the expermental stage right now so it's rare if I buy more than 1 of the same stick. I'll be happy to pick one up for you next time, it might be a week or so.

Re: Drew Estate Java Maduro Review

bought a box of these just in case... tried one a few days after humi and came to the conclusion the box I got was way too young to smoke, harshness overshadowed tobacco and almost eclipsed the flavor.

Tried one 6 mo later and it definitely mellowed out... about a year and they should be acceptable to dole out to those who smoke flavoreds.
