Rocky Patel Vintage 1999 Connecticut Review

This is from a few weeks ago, I meant to write this closer to when I smoked it but my daughter decided she needed to be born...girls...

Wrapper: Connecticut from 1999
Guts: Nic Binder and DR/Nic ligero filler
Size: Torp
Price: $8.50

Presentation of this cigar is top notch, it looks beautiful. The white and gold band brings out the soft creamy, caramel color of the wrapper.

Light up! it lit very easily, first 5-6 puffs seems a bit bitter for my taste. Nothing bad. Burn evened out at about 3 minutes into the smoke and the bitter taste was gone.
5 minutes and the flavors of the ligero are coming out. Not strong at all. Just enough to let you know its there. I really like the way its going.

30-40 minutes into the smoke and I really like what I have here. Spice is there but is very subtle. The smoke is creamy, this wrapper is really good and is really smooth. Very nice blend.

Lost track of time but I ended up nubbing this cigar.

I really like this cigar. I am trying to find the best way to describe it, there was lots of flavor; buttery, creamy, slight spice, but it wasn't strong at all.

Construction was great, draw was good, too. Not to loose, not to tight.

Side notes: This is a great cigar, one issue I had is the $$. I would compare this to a Leon Jimenes and Taboo LR Conn. The 1999 a slight spice flavor the LJ and Taboo LR don't have, but those cigars are any bad cigars either, just a slight but different, at the same time similar. Plus, the latter can be had for 2-3 dollars cheaper than the 1999.

I would definitely reccommend and smoke this cigar, I don't know if I would buy at MSRP due to I like other Conn that are cheaper.

Absolutely, as that is what I was doing as I was smoking. Well, so I had a latte, not a cup of coffee.

First of all Congrats on the baby girl!! Nice review Joe, I'm not really into light Connecticut wrappers, but the wife is and I may just grab her a couple.

Yeah congrats on the bambina.

This looks right up my alley, although i'm not usually an RP fan. That conn. wrapper is definately tempting me. I will for sure have to try one. Great Review

These are on special today and it is nice to be able to go back into the history and find reviews. Sounds great from what you describe. Might have to pick up a 5-Pack. Thanks!
