Winston Churchill Chequers By Davidoff Review

Winston Churchill Chequers By Davidoff Review:

I finally broke down and bought a few of these cigars.... I've been wanting to try them ever since they were released.

Let me tell you, this is one FINE cigar!

A little history:

Davidoff of Geneva has introduced a new brand of cigars called Winston Churchill. Named after one of the world's most notable cigar icons, the project was a collaboration between Churchill's grandson Winston S. Churchill and Davidoff's Henke Kelner.

The Winston Churchill is the only brand with full Cuban seed tobacco produced by Davidoff. The filler is a blend of Dominican Republic, Peruvian, and Nicaraguan tobaccos, finished with an Ecuadoran sun-grown wrapper.

Size: 5 1/2 X 46
Draw: Perfect
Burn: Perfect
Construction: Excellent
Strength: Medium with LOADS of flavor!

Price: $14.75 (Well worth it in my opinion)

To me, this cigar tastes VERY SIMILAR to the AVO LE 08 Tesero.

Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to one of these; I do not think you will be disappointed.

I have one that's been sleeping for about 6 months, I guess it's time to wake it up. That's for the review.

I've been looking at them, but as usual Davidoff thinks their tobacco is made of gold and have priced some of the boxes in the Churchill line at over $500.

No, I believe that is Fuente that thinks that....

Davidoff can back up everything they say about their cigars. They might be a tad bit pricey, but I can honestly say that i have never had a bad Davidoff.

Re: Winston Churchill Chequers By Davidoff Review

I have a box of these and have smoked 4 the past few weeks. They are a good looking cigar, nice construction, good draw, pleasant prelight aroma. I found them somewhat boring however, as I do with most Davidoffs. Fairly one dimensional with a prevalent taste of hay. The price doesn't bother me too much but I would say it would be decent smoke if they fell in the 6-7 buck range. As it stands, I am not eager to smoke many more, but perhaps some more rest time will make them above average for me. Overall, a very mediocre experience, but that is just my taste. I am sure some may enjoy. It was also a mistake to smoke the last one I had only a few hours after Tat Coj. 03, so it didn't have much of a chance to live up to that flavor. Maybe a good first cigar of the day to prep the palate for me.

That is OK. I only found them mediocre compared to other top-shelf stuff I smoke - I should have made that more clear in my comment. I would still choose one of these over 90% of the crank rockets pushed as good cigars by most of the major retailers most of us buy from. High expectations can yield unfair disappointment. Definitely a 89+ rated cigar in my book.
