Reserva Miraflor Review

A simple long review.

I wanted to throw a quick review out there for the Reserva Miraflor cigar line that is made and distributed by one of the Cigar ****** members (Andy Madera). The business name is Guillen Cigars. it is a long filler, hand rolled, Nicaraguan cigar that comes in seven vitolas. I am fortunate enough to have a couple of the sizes and here is my review on the cigars so far.

On the prelight cut found me with a very smooth and open draw. I personally prefer a cigar to be a little too lose before I would want it a hair to tight, but the Reserva Miraflor has a perfect balance.

The burn and draw throughout the Robusto and Lancero I smoked was very even, with the ash holding well for roughly an inch. Not once did the burn even start to become uneven.

The first half inch on these cigars is not something I desire. It comes off a little to harsh/strong for me. However after I get past that first 1/4-1/2" of the cigar it turns in to a very smooth tasting cigar. I'm terrible at picking out flavors, but I will say that when exhaling out nice large clouds of smoke I would frequently feel like I was tasting a good smooth coffee in my hand.

I did prefer the lancero size a little over the robusto for this cigar, but I think it was simply that the flavors seemed a little more concentrated and really helps to let you appreciate the hand rolled power of this cigar.

I am also interested in what these would smoke like with two to five years of aging on them. Overall I think that the Guillen Cigar guys are certainly on to something great in the 'everyday smoke' section of the cigar world. I know theres a little bit of discussion on what the final price point for these may be, but I think in the range they are talking about they are sure to be a hit for those who smoke them.

I will be sure to update you all with where you can find these cigars, as well as other lines that are coming out for the brand. I know there is already one other release in the line so far and as soon as I can get my hands on one I'll give you all a review and let you know how it smokes.

In the meantime if you see a Reserva Miraflor in your local B&M be sure to pick one up, or ask your guy if he carries them and help out the little guys in the cigar rolling industry some!
