Casa Fuente Pyramid #2 ('07) Review - All the way from Vegas, with love

After keeping these Casa Fuente's under lock and key in the Vinotemp for about a year and a half, I decided to bust one out for one of my Easter Weekend smokes...I chose the Pyramid #2 (yes, yes, I KNOW the Corna Gorda is the best, now SHUT UP ABOUT IT!) cause I wanted to feel like a rebel...

For those of you that don't know, Casa Fuente is a Cigar store and bar located in Caesar's Palace Forum Shops in Vegas that sells all things Fuente, and it is the only place in the world you can buy the Casa Fuente (house) brand...(well, not the only place, but if you think Casa Fuente's prices are too much, take a look at what some other people online are reselling them for)...the brand is rumored to be an modified Opus X blend with a Cameroon wrapper, and after smoking about a dozen, I would agree with that assessment.

* Country of Origin: Dominican Republic
* Wrapper: Cameroon
* Binder: Dominican Republic
* Filler: Dominican Republic (Tweeked Opus X)
* Format: Pyramid #2 (Torpedo - 6.38 x 52)
* Size: 6 3/8 Inches
* Ring Gauge: 52
* Est. Price: $26.00 (no tax added)

It is a great looking stick, and an even better band (I am a sucker for a high quality band, and this does not disappoint)..No obvious major veins, the wrapper was superb, and had a really nice sweetly spicy smell to it when I put it to my nose. It's cap was perfect, as all of these that I have ever smoked have been.

After cutting it, I did a prelight draw, and got that same sweet/spicy flavor from when I did my nose test...Great thing to taste, and one of the best dry draws I have had...

After lighting it and smoking for the first third of the cigar, the dominant flavor was what I would call Spicy Earth (which will also be the name of my new men's cologne)..Not overpowering in any way, but a nice medium strenth...The burn was nice and even up to this point...

The second third was more of the same, just a really high quality spicy smooth flavor, with some Leather notes floating in and out...The ash was a nice whitish gray color, and stayed on the cigar for quite a while...

The last third was more of the same, with some nice pepper coming in at the end to round things off...

Some other quick notes...
* The Smoke coming from this cigar was WONDERFUL, both in how it smelled (which was like no other Fuente I have ever smoked, just excellent) and how much there was (quite a bit)...
* It was a true pleasure to smoke, not because of it's complexity (it was not the most complex cigar I have ever tasted, for sure) but for it's Quality, which you could smell and taste every second...
* I have never been a HUGE fan of Opus X, but I LOVED this cigar, and I think the Cameroon wrapper makes all the difference in the world...

The bottom line is that if you EVER get a chance to get ahold of one of these, take it...you will NOT regret it, I assure you, even at the outrageous price point.

FINAL SCORE: 96

I was lucky enough to get one of these the last time I was in Vegas. I definately should have bought more and I am kicking myself for it! But I will be back eventually someday, just to visit Casa Fuente.

Excellent review and I agree with you 100%.
