Famous Nicaraguan 3000 review

Famous Nicaraguan 3000 Toro 5 1/2 X 54

Even though this is a house brand bundle, it appears to be box pressed and is very firm to the touch. The dark, Ecuadorian Habano wrapper is smooth with a few small veins. The filler is a Nicaraguan blend.

The inventory date on the bundle was 3/1/09 and this smoke has been in my 65 rh humi for a week.

Pre light draw was good: rich tobacco with a hint of spice.

After a quick toast and light, the burn was even. The first draw was spicy but smoothed out a little. Rich tobacco flavor with a nice zing through the nose. The first inch of wrapper developed a split, but it did not affect the draw or burn. The ash was light gray with a few dark spots and held through the first third. The second third was a little smoother, but still maintained a mild spiciness. The ash fell off at 2 inches. I removed the band. The wrapper split again but did not affect the smoke. The flavor and spice remained consistent through the final third.

Final thoughts: Good draw, full bodied, rich tobacco flavor, enough spiciness, good construction (only ashed twice), value $46/20 shipped. This is one of the best bundle cigars I've smoked.

Nice review and you'll enjoy them even more as they age very nicely.

Nice review. I have smoked a few. Just don't expect a Tat, Padron, or Oliva quality cigar.

Re: Famous Nicaraguan 3000 review

The Famous Nic 3000 is one of my favorite as well, I'm actually on my second bundle of these. For my taste buds, I enjoy them more than many of the highly praised cigars. I would reach for these over a Padron X000 any day ..... but not over a PAM.

Here is a thread for those of you that are new to this cigar. I think you'll find a convincing argument, from someone close to cigar industry, that these are actually made by Oliva.

Famous Nic 3000 Question

By the way, I'm also one of those that do not care for the Oliva V, O or the G. The Special S is great though ..... as well as the Nic 3000.

Smoke what you like.
