Taboo Limited Reserve Havana Torpedo Review

A nice Sunday. A good cigar in the afternoon watching the Twins win their third straight. A melt in your mouth rack of St. Louis style ribs smothered in Famous Dave's sweet & sassy. For desert a Taboo Limited Reserve Havana torpedo.

I must confess that I'm a Taboo lover and this stick did not disappoint me. Nice construction, smelled good, nice and firm. Snipped a bit off the tip, tight draw. This torp is a really pointy 7 x 52. Made a second cut, draw improved.
Pre light draw nice flavor no spice. First third smooth and tasty. I'm not sure what it is about Taboo blends, but I'd describe them as juicy. I always salivate a little when I smoke them and tend to wash that nutty flavor off the roof of my mouth; tasty. The burn is slow and even. Ash is light gray and holds well. Plenty of thick smoke. The spice is sneaky. Unlike a Pepin which smacks me with pepper from the first puff, a mild burning sensation appears after the first third. The spice continues, but does not overpower the flavor. Good flavor right to the finger burning nub. As expected another good smoke by Taboo.

Nice review! Sounds like a good smoke. I've got a Taboo sampler coming to me this week, and I think I'll be ordering the limited reserve sampler next. Looking forward to the Twist!

I would have to say the same about the Taboo HSG. A nice little spice but still lets the flavor through.

Nice review! Every Taboo I have had, I have enjoyed. I think I have a few left from a sampler I bought, will have to get one of these out to smoke this week!

What is the blend of this cigar, wrapper? Binder? Filler? I have smoked a couple Taboos been it was last summer and I don't remeber which ones they where.

I haven't disliked any Taboo I have smoked yet and as I have stated before, Rob is a classy guy that produces great cigars.

First of all thanks for the review. I am replying here because the only issue I have with these is the long tip on the torpedos. I am happy to see you made the second cut. I try to tell everyone in the shop to cut the LR Torps down a little further than a traditional torpedo and they will draw fine. I may need to rethink the long neck on the torps? We recently added the 6x60 in the LR's and they are doing well.
Would you guys like to see a more traditional torpedo shape or should we leave them alone?
Thanks
Rob

Re: Taboo Limited Reserve Havana Torpedo Review

I like the look of the long pointy tip like that on torpedoes, I don't think its a big deal to have to cut twice if you don't get enough the first time.

Re: Taboo Limited Reserve Havana Torpedo Review

The long tip was not a problem. I was the first one I smoked so I didn't know how deep to cut it. Taboo's have never presented me any draw problems so I started small and adjusted. The construction was good and it did not unravel even with the second cut.
