Victor Sinclair Vintage Select Torpedo Review

What a gorgeous stick this is. Construction is flawless and the pre-light draw sweet.

The light was nice and even and the first few puffs surprisingly mild for a maduro. After letting it rest a bit the first third was dominated by a silky smooth chocolate with an espresso aftertaste. As I was drinking ice water this time, my palate was a bit sharper than normal. The second third was more leather and espresso with the chocolaty aftertaste.

The atmosphere wasn't half bad either since our weather has improved.

The final third saw a spicier cedar with an espresso finish that still maintained that creamy smooth voluminous smoke. Me and my smoking buddy Scrappy thoroughly enjoyed this cigar and I would rate this one a 98, Yes, it IS that good.

Scrappy gives it 100 but he's easier than I.

re: Victor Sinclair Vintage Select Torpedo Review

When I first started smoking I took a chance and bought a sampler because of the price, and because they looked good enough to eat. I remember really liking them a lot.

I have not had one in 2 years.......I would like to try one again. I may see if I can get these as singles.

I do remember them being tasty!

Re: Victor Sinclair Vintage Select Torpedo Review

This is the only Victor Sinclair stick that I can tolerate. I may be wrong, but doesn't this stick have a Brazilian wrapper?

Thanks for the review

Re: Victor Sinclair Vintage Select Torpedo Review

Nice review Charlie, Vinnie her from Olympia and we have had nice weather the past few days.

I bought a 20 count sample pack of these off of a bid site in November. they are box press with 4 sizes, all 48 ring count from 5" to 7" with some torpedoes.

I have smoked about 5 of them now and until the last two I didn't like them. I think they started out tasting like straw hay at best. With that being said with some age on them, my last two were pretty good. They started off weak, but finished strong.

I'm not sure I would buy them again, but for the $22 I paid for the them, I would say not bad after some age.

What lake is that behind you? If I were to guess, I would say Big Lake, but it's been so long since I lived up there I can't tell for sure.

Yep, it's Big Lake. I'm about three houses from the Bar & Grill.

Re: Victor Sinclair Vintage Select Torpedo Review

Nice review. Just Smoked one of these from a sampler pack i bought a short while ago. The First one that i smoked i didn't really care for, But the most recent one was really fantastic. Very sweet flavors, nice Finish, when passed through the sinuses i got this very subtle but very distinct flavor of Strawberry twizzlers, this Sounds crazy, and possibly undesirable, but i swear I tasted it through the majority of the cigar and really loved it.......crazy.

I noticed this cigar had a small amount of plume, at least thats what I assume it was, unlike the other Victor Sinclair cigars that I've smoked that had no plume (all of which i have not enjoyed). hmmmmmmm, i dunno.

Re: Victor Sinclair Vintage Select Torpedo Review

Bought a box of these after reading the review and sounded like they would be something I would like.
Opened the box and the sticks looked like they had been in a bar fight and lost. The wrapper was VERY rough. So starting out wasn't good, They smelled great and the cut was easy to make. Pre light draw was very good.
I must say the cigar impressed me. I have to say your tasting notes were right on.

Re: Victor Sinclair Vintage Select Torpedo Review

Nice review and confirms my sentiments as well. I snagged a Flight Sampler (included Connecticut Yankee, Triple Corojo, and some other one)off of CBid and the Vintage Select is the only one of the bunch I would do again.
