Sancho Panza Box Press Autopsy

I was smoking a Sancho Panza box press and noticed that it burned hot and had a rough flavor that reminded me of some machine-mades that I've had in the past. Also, I was spitting bits which made me suspicious of the "long filler" claim. Generally, the only bit I spit is the ring from the cap cut. Decided to do an autopsy and see what in heck was going on in there. I've done these with many premium cigars and have always found it to be illuminating, as it's cool to see the way they fan-fold the filler and wrap the binder around it. In the past, I've always found three distinct sheets for wrapper, binder, and filler. What I found here was a lot of smaller pieces of tobacco and I'm assuming that this is an example of a "cuban sandwich" where they sprinkle some scraps into the filler during rolling.

Not to knock off Sancho Panza but their double maduro is an excellent everyday smoke. I am not familiar with their extra fuerte line but I would recommend trying another and see if you have the same flavor results.

I really like the Extra Fuerte, and the DM is good too. One of the top bang-for-the-buck smokes out there.

I think the double maduro is great, tons and tons of white bellowing smoke

Yeah, I only smoked half of it and I wanted to see what was up with all those bits.
