Camacho Triple Maduro Toro (6 x 60): Photo Review

Appearence:
DARK oily wrapper with a sweet barnyard scent. The pre light draw was perfect, not being too loose or tight and it was accompied by a slight hay taste with a hint of sweet tobacco. As you can see in the pictures below, this guy is a beast! My cutter was barely big enough to make the cut!

Location:
3rd floor patio with the temperature being a comftable 70 degrees. Clear sky with a slight breeze...perfect smoking weather! All I am pairing with this stick is a glass of ice cold water. I had a LARGE chef salad a little before lighting this stick up. I wanted to make sure I didn't have an empty stomach.

1st Quarter:

Started off with that sweet maduro taste I love right from the 1st puff. There was also a hint of spice that you could feel on your lips for the 1st 10 puffs or so. After this, the sweetness took over as the only flavor I could really taste. Draw was perfect.

2nd Quarter:

Still has that maduro sweetness (almost like cherries nows), but is now joined by a subtle woodsy/tobacco taste. The smoke at this point is a thick billowy white smoke. So far this cigar is tasting like a regular maduro cigar with its sweetness with a little extra flavor profile with the woodsy taste.

3rd Quarter:

The sweetness taste starts to go away quickly at this point and the flavor is now the woodsy tobacco taste that was present before. It almost tastes a little like cedar. As the smoke kept going, the tobacco flavor was starting to be the main point, with the cedar only being a very faint hint. This was the worst point of the cigar. I was smoking it nice and slow, so overheating wasn't the problem. I also purged it at this point, and the flavor was still the same.

Last Quarter:

The sweetness that went away came back toward the end as a hint in addition to the spice. As I got closer and closer to the end, the spice got more evident. By the time I got to the nub (as seen above), the spice was at its heaviest point since the 1st few puffs I took of the cigar! Very tasty. The sweetness also came back full steam by the time I was getting close to the nub. This cigar seems to be one of the few that got better as it got really close to the end. In all honesty, this was the best tasting section of the cigar. Made me forget about the 3rd quarter not being up to par with the rest of the cigar. As you can see in the picture, I tried to get as much out of this cigar as I could, lol. Went right down to the fingertips.

Conclusion:
This was the typical maduro cigar in terms of the sweetness and hints of spuce. It had a little other flavor profile by having that hint of cedar taste toward the middle. All and all, it is a good cigar. The one big negative I would have to give this cigar though is value. I paid $13.99 for this cigar and I think I would pay for other maduro's over this one based on the price. If I was going to pay that much, I would much rather buy a Don Pepin Series JJ Maduro, which is my favorite maduro. Also, I could pay half the price for a RP Edge, which has a similar taste. Saying that though, this is a good maduro that I would recomend if you wanted to pay the price. I give it a 8.6 out of 10.

Grade:
Appearence - 9.2
Draw/Burn - 10.0
Taste - 8.6
Value - 5.0

Final Grade - 8.6

You definitely know how to review a cigar. Thanks for the legwork. That is one Camacho I really need to try. No idea why I do not have any yet.

Glad you enjoyed it I also always wanted to try this smoke out and finally decided to give it a try when browsing the local B&M.

Thanks for the positive words I'm going to try to post more reviews in the future for cigars that I smoke that aren't usually posted in this review forum. They are also sticks I have been meaning to try as well

Great review! The pics really are nice. I've smoked one of these as well. IMO they are overpriced, like you I'd rather spend that money on a different maduro.

Re: Camacho Triple Maduro Toro (6 x 60): Photo Review

I've never smoked a Camacho, but have heard a lot of good things. But $14 is a LOT of money for a cigar, at least to me. Unless I"m at a smoke-in B&M with a friend or something, I never pay that much for a cigar. Are all Camacho's expensive?

The triple maduro is one of their pricier sticks from what I have seen. I know the Camacho 1962 and Corojo can be had for around $6 a stick. I haven't had any experience with these bands so I don't know how they are personally.
