Thumbs up La Gloria Cubana Review

I smoked a regular series LGC last wednsday.

I cut it with a single blade cutter and took a pre-light draw and....

WOW! *SUPER EASY* draw. Like breathing through a huge straw or something. Felt real strange.

I lit up the stick with my torch and took a first draw and TONS of smoke rushed to my mouth. Didn't taste too good. Sorta harsh. The next 2 or 3 draws were like this.

Then it mellowed out and it tasted of toasted wood. The smoke was pretty strong with some good spiciness in there. Not what I quite expected- but then, I didn't know what to expect.

The ash held quite well and was a great looking salt and pepper color.

About halfway through I started tasting a bit of sweetness. It reminded me of some of the flavors I tasted in the IT Super Fuerte Maduro I had last week. I loved it.

In the last 1 3/4 inches it actually gave out on me. I relit it and continued. I put it out once it got to the last inch or so.

Overall it was a good smoke. My complaints would be that the draw was too easy (way too easy even) and it started a bit harsh. The finish was quite long which was nice.

Good smoke!

Re: La Gloria Cubana

I picked up a box 3 or 4 months ago - took one out and tried it. Pretty much exactly as you posted. I have stuck it storage to get some age on them and then will try them again.

Yeah this may be a stick that I will buy to keep in the humi for a while. This one was in a humidor for about 2 months- possibly three.

Mine was pretty much brand new. It was a very rare B&M box purchase. The night before I had an LGC series R that was in my humi for maybe 6 months. I was impressed enough to run right out and get a box - but they didn't have any - sooooo - picked up this box instead.
I'll try them again this fall and see how they are.
