Don Carlos #4

Cigar: A. Fuente Don Carlos
L/RG: 5.1x43
Size: No.4
Price: $8.00
Weather: 67 humid, birds chirping, absolutely beautiful
Meal/Bev.: Diet Pepsi

Appearance: Light Maduro, some nasty veins, good cap construction
17/20

Lighting and Burning: Even light, alot of resting smoke, razor sharp burn
14/15

Construction: Initial draw too tight for my taste but still ok, loosened up later. Wrapper stayed well intact.
26/30

Taste: Smooth, Upon draw there was a sweet very crisp almost like sweet-tea splash of flavor, once this faded it had a nice mellow, leathery flavor with some cedar notes and i could swear i got some very slight spice on the palate but nothing to write home about.
30/35

17+14+26+30= 87/100

Overview:
In all honesty, I was trying to knock off points on this one from the get-go. Idk why, but i just had some kinda prejudice. Despite this, I have to admit that these are just great. The flavor was very consistent and had an outstanding balance of sweetness and depth, burn was great, and I just really ended up enjoying this one.

Re: Don Carlos #4

Nice review. I just had one of these the other night. My palate has favored more full-bodied, spicy fare as of late, but I am always a sucker for Don Carlos smoothness. The double robusto is the best vitola imo. Thanks.

Re: Don Carlos #4

Always a good smoke. I have gotten away from them having fallen off the "dark" slope. I need to root thru my Humi to find one.
Thanks for the review and the reminder.

Love these cigars. Very nice review. Hears to hoping that we can actually still smoke outside in 2080!

Ditto. Good review. I am wary of Fuente's. Some I love. Some disgust me. The Don Carlos line is one that pleasures me a great deal, although I did notice some very notable anomolies in the aparent roll... What's up with that "triple cap"?

Don Carlos is an incredible blend. I would love to try a few that have had 5-6 years old that have been taken care of immaculately...

Interesting, but Im not sure that the DC isn't too mild to benefit from a long slumber. Perhaps someone who's done this will pop by. Supposedly, they are the same blend as Opus, DCM, Anejo with different wrapper. At least two of those three do benefit from some age.

I didnt realize the apparently poor rolling job until i took the pics, the wrapper doesnt look very well put on, and the cap really looks like shit. Despite all of this, the burn really was great and the draw was fine too, wrapper stayed very well intact.
