Taboo Exotic Original

This one was in a bomb from ssutton. (thank you again) Very very firm construction. Draw was tight but still smokable. Upon lighting i got some spicy hints then it mellowed to something ive never experienced with a cigar. Cant put my finger on it but it was good. Started to get some floral notes about a third into it when WHAM!!!! the wrapper burst!! That baby swelled up so much it shreaded the wrapper!! Ive never had one do this. I keep my gars at 66 RH and about 67 degrees so I dont think that could be the problem. It snapped loud enough my dogs looked up at me. Even with its wrapper destroyed it didnt detour me from finishing it. All in all it was a fine smoke that lasted for fricken ever. Im curious to know why I almost put my eye out with it though.

Re: Taboo Exotic Original

Yep, happened with the last CAO Black I gifted my old man. Looked like a mushroom on the end of it, but he still enjoyed. Is there a science there or what?
I'm a pretty steady 65%, 70 degree guy. Weird.

Re: Taboo Exotic Original

Just smoked 4 within the last week, and had no issues with any of them. What is strange is the violence with which it popped. Maybe there was a clump of moist tobacco, that expanded with the heat?

Re: Taboo Exotic Original

yeah maybe. They sat in the humi a good 3 weeks since ssutton sent them. I think the pop came from how tightly rolled this thing was. I mean it was FIRM!!! But still was able to draw through it. The binder held but swelled up like an egg.

True soldier, busted wrapper and still finish that bad boy off! Thanks for the review. I keep hearing about people picking up floral notes and it has me interested.

Re: Taboo Exotic Original

I smoked one of these last night. Mine didn't explode, but it definitly lasted forever. I smoked it for two hours and still had 4" left when I put it down. Flavor was pretty good, but I'd had enough.

Wow I've never had that happen yet! I've seen it happen. It's like 1 in a 1000. You should play the lottery.

The Taboo Exotic Original is one of my favorite new found smokes. When Taboo got them back in stock a few weeks ago, I loaded up. Didn't buy them out of their stock but I put a hurtin on it!

Re: Taboo Exotic Original

I went to a cookout last week and a couple of the guys met me beforehand at the local to pick up some cigars. 2 out of the 4 of us had near catastrophic blowouts! My friend had his first VSG and it looked like a pile of wet clothes held together by his fingertips. I think the B&M keeps its humi way to high %, and it was raining and super humid out. Too high rh and temps = boom!

Re: Taboo Exotic Original

I was smoking a St. Luis Rey one time and it did the same thing, but in slooow motion. It was the strangest thing! Sadly, it was unsmokable after it unravelled. I guess the tobacco expands as it heats up. You smoke enough cigars and you'll see some strange things. Great pics.
