The MOW figurado's I smoked tasted horrible. Bland, one dimensional and with a very short finish. Did I miss something here?

The original MOW's are nowhere near as good as the Ruinations IMO. Try the Ruination and you will not think its the same thing.

I dont know why people keep thinking the Ruination is the same as the regular Man O War? Its a totally different blend... the Ruination is much better, is much fuller and more complex. You cant compare the two.

Also CI will say anything to sell a cigar... its funny to read some of the reviews for some of the cigars their staff writes for cigars like Dark Sharks and Pirates Golds....

Ace, I certainly understand that the ruination is a different stick. I don't think I implied they were the same thing anywhere in my post. What I was saying is that the regular line MOW figurado was boasted (to me) as being the second coming and I thought it sucked. When the guy started pushing the ruination today, I naturally had my doubts. Especially since singles came with a t-shirt!!

Yeah well here is what they had to say about the "Original Cubans" cigar.. but hey you dont get a free t-shirt with it..

Quote:
The heavenly taste of a 1959 Cuban…at a Joe Six-Pack price!

Most know that despite the hype and reputation, the shine is gone from the Cuban cigar industry. Thanks to decades of communism and the exodus of cigar making talent, the best cigars being made today come from outside Cuba. But in their heyday, Cuban cigars were the pinnacle of the cigar maker’s art. Those that remember the legendary, authentic Cuban cigars know that they tasted sort of like vanilla ice cream soda. And about halfway through, you’d get a bit light-headed and realize that these babies were potent – but you’d notice it more in the belly than in the palate. “Original” Cubans bring back that incredibly taste. Made in the Dominican Republic, these beauties offer a perfect draw and sweet, smooth power that pleases the palate, all while tricking the belly into thinking these are the real deal. Covered in a gorgeous Ecuadorian Sun-Grown (ESG) wrapper leaf, you will fall in love with these cigars!

"Original" Cubans - a time machine back to pre-Castro Havana.
but at least the MOW Ruination is worthy being called an excellent cigar..

The MOW is, to me, inconsistent, but with a little age they improve like so many other sticks.

The regular MOW... NOT the Ruinations need time to sleep.. I got a box off of Cbid back in March with the full intention of not even smoking one until they have rested for at least a year but with some rest they are very good cigars

Great review. You even tried two of them for comparison. They don't even do that in the magazines but it's a great consistency check. Thank you for helping me make an informed purchase.

Smoking another one now.... these are just fantastic cigars.. draw is perfect, flavors are consistent with my initial review and the burn on this one is razor sharp! This is just an all around excellent cigar.

I remember liking the original MOW, but not having that "wow" factor. I've been hearing a lot about these lately, they're definately on my to try list.

Re: Man O War Ruination Robusto #1

Argh... I've been wanting to try these since I smoked the original MOW...they look soooooooo TASTY! I thought the original was quite good, I loved it and then I found out they had a more fuller-bodied one and I was instantly jazzed to try these sticks! Just haven't had the funds as of late, especially with my last splurge.
