Don Lino Africa Duma

Cigar: Don Lino Africa Duma
Year: 2007
Cutter: Xikar
Lighter: Ronson Jet-Lite
Beverage: Coke Zero

Pre-cut: Nice dark, oily wrapper. Pre-light draw has a hint of sweetness.

1st Third: This cigar puts out large amounts of smoke. Kind of disappointed so far as there is very little flavor in the first part of this cigar. There is a hint of spice on the nose exhale though so maybe things will pick up.

2nd third: Not a lot going on here but I do get a taste of Cocoa. Still just a hint of spice on the nose exhale. I usually get some spice and a bit of strength from these but not with this one. I have never smoked one over a couple of months old so that may have something to do with it.

Final third: Flavor picks up a little more. Had to do a quick purge as I started tasting some build-up. Still no spice except for a little on the nose exhale.

Overall I was a bit disappointed in this cigar. The ones I have smoked before have had some strength to them and this one did not. It did have some body to it but was sorely lacking in flavor and complexity. I think that these lose quite a bit after some time in the humidor.

I prefer them but I can overlook that as long as there is some complexity and evolving flavors.

All the Africas I have smoked before have been pretty good cigars but this one just seemed flat for some reason.

Go ahead and give them a try. Just don't let them sit for too long.

Yeah, I was excited to see this reviewed too. Seen them around but never tried. Sorry it was a sleeper.

Re: Don Lino Africa Duma

I've been interested in trying these ever since I started smoking. The price seemed right, and just seemed like an all around good stick. Nothing too exciting, but a good one overall. I'm still probably going to give these a try one day. But thanks for the review!

I feel the same way. I had one or two of these when I first got them and the flavors were much more pronounced. They have been resting for almost a year and recently tried another two and was underwelmed both times. Almost made me feel like my memory of the earlier ones was faulghty.

Thanks for the review, I bid on some of these myself. I have tried the Don Lino Colorado in the past and liked it. Sounds like I will need to smoke them up quick.

Re: Don Lino Africa Duma

I smoked on tonight and had plenty of spice, but I don't age them. They are ready to go from the get go every time I've had them. I would try another. Thanks for the review brother.

I've been meaning to try one of these too, but it seems everytime I do, I run into someone who gives it a yawn. How long had it sat for?
