Las Cabrillas
I am into my final third of a Las Cabrillas and thought i would let you guys know what I thought. First a little history behind the gar. I bought this thing a couple years ago while picking up some crown royal from a liquor store. Put the thing in my humidor and totally forgot that i had it. So i went to pick out a cigar tonight and decided to dig to the bottom and there it was. It is the Balboa size which is a 7x54 monster.
Here it goes............... The first third Upon lighting it noticed how mild it was not much spice. Almost a dark chocolate taste at times that lingered with the exhale. The burn was a little one sided but not enough to bother me so I let it be and just puffed away. Firts impression: not terrible but not great. The ash got to about an inch and a half. The draw is very tight. The second third The burn is much more uneven now so much that I had to fix it. The taste is very creamy now and is a bit stronger. Maybe to the medium size of mild. It is almost sweet on my tongue. The chocolate still lingers, but I am beginning to get the smallest hint of cedar. The ash is white and the draw is beginning to loosen up. The home stretch The taste is much stronger now, cedar is the dominate flavor with a hint of leather. It is getting spicy now, I would put it on the stronger side of medium. The burn has stayed perfect. As i get down to about an inch and a half left the cigar began going out. i had to light it three times in less than ten minutes. It overcame the burn problem and stayed spicy all the way to the end. The Decision It was an enjoyable smoke. Not the best but certainly the worst. I imagine the two years of aging did a lot for the cigar. If it was fresh off the shelf I imagine it would not be that great. So I guess I'll say if you gotem smokem. If you don't have one already I would advice giving it a shot. Like I said before not the best but I did enjoy. |

Re: Las Cabrillas
My favorite cigar (Churhill) at one time, first box purchase.
The wrappers were dry and the sticks were warped like cheap pool cues, but I loved those things! Thanks for the memories and thanks for the review. |
