La Aurora Preferidos Emerald

Cigar: La Aurora Preferidos Emerald
Year: 2006
Cutter: Xikar
Lighter: Ronson Jet-Lite
Beverage: Coke Zero

Pre-cut: Nice wrapper with a slightly oily sheen to it. The cigar is firmly packed and heavy in the hand. Pre - light draw is slightly sweet and earthy.

1st Third: This cigar is a Dominican so it is fairly mild. The Sumatran wrapper does add a hint of spice to it. Predominate tastes are leather and earth with some woodsy notes on the nose exhale.

2nd third: Dominican tobacco really coming to the front now. Hints of wood and earth along with a sweet spice (not pepper). Had to correct the burn once but it was minor.

Final third: Still woodsy notes with hints of spice and earth. Have had to purge a coule of times as the smoke was getting a little harsh (I find this with a lot of Dominicans) but it does not detract from the overall enjoyment of this cigar.

Overall this cigar is on par with most Dominican cigars. Thw filler is an interesting combination that adds just a touch of earthiness. I really believe the Sumatran wrapper is the highlight of the smoke. I just wish the price oint was a little bit lower (like about $10.00 lower).

Re: La Aurora Preferidos Emerald

Thanks for the review, I just picked up my first la aurora and I am hoping that it is worth what I spent for it.

Seems like it might be.

I have only smoked the 1495 but liked it. Have been wanting to try one of those special tubo types but always wondered how much that anodized aluminum container added to the cost?

Thanks for the review and pics, I have the blue & silver ones I've been saving, I forget what they call them excatly, sapphire & platinum? At any rate great review it makes me want to fire one of mine up. Of the few I've smoked I agree with you - good solid cigar but a little too pricey.

Re: La Aurora Preferidos Emerald

I have smoked all the sticks in this series. They are good smokes, but to me they aren't worth the $12-15 each that the B&Ms around here get for them.

It didn't come in a tube but it is the same size and shape as the one you just reviewed. When talking to the lady at the B&M she said it was sun grown and the wrapper says equador on it.
