San Cristobal Francisco

Cigar: San Cristobal Francisco
Year: 2007
Cutter: Xikar
Lighter: Ronson Jet-Lite
Beverage: Miller Lite

Pre-cut: Beautiful dark , oily wrapper. Band is outstanding in color. Pre - light has hints of wood, pepper, and undertones of something like figs?

1st third: Pepper and spice and everything nice. This cigar starts out with the signature Pepin spice along with some hints of wood and leather. A little sweetness on the nose (possibly cherry). Smoke is thick and creamy and coats the tongue and mouth. The finish is long on this one also.

2nd third: Has mellowed down a tiny bit now but I do have the nicotine "lump" in the back of my throat. Still plenty of leather and a wood taste that reminds me of cedar. The sweetness has disappeared for now.

Final third: Peppery spice is back full force now. Still getting hints of wood and leather. Cigar is putting out large amounts of thick smoke with every puff. Not able to nose exhale because of the pepper.

Overall this cigar is a good example of the pepper and spice that Pepin delivers while combining other more subtle flavors. This cigar is pretty complex and changes several times throughout. If you do not like pepper and spice then you may want to leave this one alone.

Great review, can't wait to try one some day.

I think their cigar band is my favorite of all cigars.

Re: San Cristobal Francisco

Great review,,,,a real man would "nosehale" it anyway and take one for the cigar team just to get that extra flavor profile. I loves me some spice, pepper and complexity in a cigar. Don't worry, nasal hair grows back if you really singe it and I have! lol

Re: San Cristobal Francisco

San Cristobal is actually one of my favorites. I'm looking forward to buying a box at an Ashton event at a local B&M later in August. Buy a box get a free San Cristobal humidor!
One of the smoother cigars I've tried but with lots of character!

Re: San Cristobal Francisco

Great review, thanks! This is one of the Pepins I have yet to try. Along with many of the Tats--price is the main factor for me having not tried it.

I have no doubt it's a great sticks, but when I can get a 601 or Tat Havana VI on sale somewhere online for like $4, it's tough to spend $10 on anything.
