Re: CAO Italia Review

I have seen bad tar build up on both mild and strong cigars, plus have smoked plenty strong cigars without it (by tar build up I'm talking about the tar coming out of the head as you smoke). So I don't agree that if you want strong tar build up comes with it. I will also add that the same cigars that had the tar build up have been smoked without it also.

Haven't tried the Italia yet. The reviews always seem to leave me with mixed feelings

Have to agree with tx_tuff on the tar issue, plus strong doesn't necessarily mean full flavored and full flavored doesn't necessarily mean strong.

I didnt mean to imply that it's a given. Re-reading my post, it's clear that I did. Sorry for that, my bad.

Fact it, I've only rarely experienced it. Now that Im a habitual purger, I never do.

Thanks for the review on the Toro. I like the Robusto a lot, but haven't tried this vitola yet.

As to the tar build-up...did you try purging? That usually works for me.

I purge after every draw, and have only seen it a couple times.

Re: CAO Italia Review

I'm not sure but, could tar build up be related to the speed at which you smoke?

I have these twigs cigarillos of the Natural Line by Drew Estate. They really have such an effortless draw. I find when I draw hard and smoke it fast, it ends up getting a sappy tar build up. Orangey brown dark gunk. Looks oil on the fingers. I noticed when I smoked them more slowly that it doesn't happen. It could be that when your smoking faster, it causes it to burn to fast and too hot and could even liquefy some of the tobacco instead of burning.

Just my theory

I have had 2 of these cigars in the gordo size. I really enjoyed both didn't have the problem with tar build up maybe difference in size.

Thanks for the nice review! These have been a stable smoke of mine for a long time. They are also pretty easy to get at a good price.

sorry for the chop quote. Thats a good question, I never thought about that before.

I did smoke that one faster then my norm, but then again I very rarely see
a tar build-up on my cigars to the extent that this one had.

I should have put this in the review,
Never let one persons view of a cigar size / type make your decision
whether or not to buy that cigar size / type
Heck look at me, all of you know I am crazy
