Flor De Oliva Corojo Review

Flor De Oliva Corojo Torpedo 6 x 52

Wrapper - Nicaraguan Corojo
Filler - Nicaruaguan
Construction - good
Draw - Free
Burn - even through the entire smoke, no touchups or re-lights.

Smoked one of these right out of the bundle and found them to be a bit harsh. This one has been in the humi about 6 months.

Pre light draw rich Corojo flavor with a hint of spice.

!st third - a bit of spice, mild burning sensation, but no harshness, nice corojo flavor. Burn is even and holds through the first third.

2nd third - spice smooths out or maybe I'm just used to it. Flavor is rich and strengthens. This is a full flavored, medium bodied smoke. As the spice retreats the rich sweetness of the Corojo wrapper becomes more apparent.

Finish - Flavor is rich and a bit earthy, sweetness has pulled back. Spice is almost gone but the burn in my mouth lingers.

This is a more flavorful cigar than the other 3 varieties of FDO's.

Smoked this last night and am writing this from notes.

Smoking a Holt's Old Henry Corojo by Pepin as I write. The Old Henry has more spice, but the full flavor of the FDO is very similar. This is a very good inexpensive corojo if you give it a long rest.

Are the Old Henry original ones Corojo? They just list them as Natural so I wasn't sure. I had one of the Flor de Oliva Natural, was just a decent taste but great light and draw.

I enjoyed Old Henry original, need to try the maduro one.

How does the Flor de Oliva Corojo compare to the others? I heard from some the Maduro wasn't so great.

Old Henry orig is a Nicaraguan Corojo.

The FDO Corojo has a much stronger flavor than the other FDO's. Haven't found anything comparable for the price.

I liked FDO Maduro Toros when I first started smoking. Construction is good, but now. I find flavor lacking. I like RP X outs Maduro ( Lig A & Lig C) much better. Worth the extra cost off c-bid.

I also like the FDO original occasionally , but like the Famous Dominican 1000 (Also a Sumatra wrapper) more.

The FDO Gold is still in my rotation, but I lean more toward 5 Vegas Gold.

FDO costruction is very good. I think the demand is great so they are always very young. They seem to need at least 6 months in the coolerdor to smooth out. (my opinion some may not agree). It gets to be a space issue.

Hard to beat the FdO as a budget smoke.
