La Aurora Maduro Robusto

Cigar: La Aurora Maduro Robusto
Year: 2007
Cutter: Xikar
Lighter: Ronson Jet-Lite
Beverage: Coke Zero

This is my first time trying this cigar. I have liked most of the La Aurora blends i have tried so let's hope the good streak continues.

Pre-cut: This cigar has a nice looking, darkish brown wrapper. Not as dark as your typical maduro. Pre-light draw is has a hint of spice and a slight sweetness to it.

1st third: This cigar starts out with a hint of sweetness from the wrapper and has hints of spice and leather in the background. The sweetness is very light and if you are not paying attention you could miss it completely. The burn is razor sharp and the ash it white and holds very well.

2nd third: This cigar is definitly on the mild side of medium. Taste of leather and a little of the sweetness are still present and now some floral hints are starting to come through. Getting just a faint grassy taste on the nose exhale that reminds me of a fresh cut field. Have ashed it once and the burn is still sharp.

Final third: Still getting the hints of sweetness and leather taste. The smoke started getting a little harsh but nothing a quick purge did not take care of. The finish is not too short but it could be a bit more flavorful. The nose exhale is smooth without much to take notice of.

Overall this cigar is fairly one dimensional. I have come to expect better from La Aurora. The flavor never did evolve and what few flavors were present never did "pop". I don't remember where I got this cigar, if it was a gift, bought it or what but I do not think that I would buy at a price point anywhere over $2.50.

Re: La Aurora Maduro Robusto

I have not had a La Aurora I didn't like. I've only tried a handful, but this is not one of em. Even though you say it is one dimensional, it still seems like a cigar I'd enjoy. Nice review though.

Also....where are the pictures of your Ronson?
