Review: Cubao Maduro from 2Curious. Thanks Kerri!
First off, I'd like to say thank you to Kerri (2Curious) for holding the contest where I won the Cubao Maduro. So...Thank you!
![]() This cigar just smelled delicious. Couldn't tell you what it smelled like, but it made my mouth water. The pre-light draws had some hints of leather and earth, and had a nice not to tight/not to loose draw. Basically perfect! Upon lighting I noticed I got a blast of spicy flavor, which was surprising to me. Even though the same happened when I smoked a regular Cubao this past weekend. The spice definately was not a bad thing, but quickly went away after the next puff or two. I'm not really a big fan of maduro wrappers as much as I used to. But this is definately pleasing me the 1st half. It seemed to me that it would alternate between a light leather taste, to an earthy dirt taste, with a mix of both as well. At about the middle of the cigar, it seemed like I hit a sour spot. It just had a bad taste. Even though I purged the cigar a few times, it still wouldn't go away. Eventually, I just sucked it up and it went away. I think it must have been like that due to the past week. It was in my humi at a nice 68%/68 F. Then my A/C broke down and sat in 75 degrees for at least 4-5 hours. Got put in my travel humi over the past weekend while I stayed at my G/F's parents house. Got the A/C fixed. Then sat in the 68%/68 F since Monday. I made it to the last 3rd where I still tasted leather and earth. It started burning a little too hot at this point, but I didn't want to let it go! I think the size was a robusto that I got from Kerri, which is probably a good size for this cigar. Smaller wouldn't keep you satisfied, and bigger would probably end up being too one-dimensional. Overall, I'd suggest this cigar to anyone who loves the original Cubao, or anyone that likes their maduro's. It offer's something for everyone. I'd just suggest that it would rest for longer than I had mine to give the cigars some time to rest and age. I bet a month or two would make this cigar more amazing than it already is. A must try for everyone! Thanks again Kerri!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yea buddy! |

Only a man's man can wear a shirt with Pink on it.
Your G/F is a lucky lady indeed, Ben! You are right on the money about some rest for this cigar. I think the production of this one was very recent, so another month minimum would be ideal. The Murcielago was produced back in March I think, so all rested and perfect now. The Cubao Maduro needs a little more time, then I think we'll get to taste all the goodness it has to offer. Thanks so much for the review. Glad you got ahold of a regular Cubao to try first. |

I have already had at least 3 Cubaos Maduro, and I must agree with you about everything you said plus the 'let it rest' part... (I am not so sure I could wait for 30 days but i'll try
) . I am Cubao fan...actually a EO Brands fan. Everything those guys has made so far, is simply perfect for me...I just can't wait. Glad that you like too and of course from now on, will be watching and reading all your reviews.I hope you can try soon the Murcielago..... that one is also great.... keep me post it when you review that one. best of luck and Cigars and Thanks to Kerri too. Nice pictures! And thanks for the compliments. I really enjoyed the Cubao Maduro even though I'm not a big fan of them anymore. I think the Cubao Maduro and the Camacho Corojo Maduro are the only two I can really enjoy at the moment. But I do look forward to smoking a few more Cubao's...the maduro and original. I'll keep a look out for the Murcielago cigars too.
